I don't run unless I'm being chased.

With that being said, what motivated you to start running? I lift weights and do cardio to stay fit and to try to look decent. But I never understood the motivation behind running long distances. Is it the simple case of conquering a challenge?

I started the C25K initially because I needed something that was a good workout and wouldn't take long. Like I could go run 3 miles, burn a ton of calories...all in a half hour and be done with it. Going to the gym to work out is a long chore for me. Drive to the gym, do some warm up cardio, do weights, do abs and end with a long cardio session. Too much time and I don't have that kind of time.

Like today, I ran 3 miles. Took me no time at all to get done.

But then I got addicted. I wanted to run more. So I started the Bridge to 10k program. That took more time, but still no longer than an hour. :)

That makes sense, in a perfect world I'd have a gym in my basement. I'd rather get fat then run though.

This is the half marathon training I'm doing:

I will be adding 2 weeks in there at the end with long runs of 11 and 12 miles because I don't want to make that jump from 10-13 and I have the extra time. Its funny, because I looked at this workout and the first few weeks seem so EASY. I've been running a lot more than that a week (every other day).

But I did day 4 today and running 3 days in a row? MUCH harder LOL. Going to do weights tonight and then finally have a rest day tomorrow.

Haha. If anyone here gets Philly Magazine, they did their annual "Get Fit Philly" issue this month.  Guess who was the picture for running category? farging hilarious. It's the professional pic from the bridge run in November. There were over 5000 runners and most had pics taken. So funny that they used mine.

Frame one up for sure.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

except the real PG isn't usually cringing after running up and down the Ben Franklin bridge.  :P

I like how the people in back look taller even though they are 25 feet behind you. Totally messing with my depth perception.

If the addiction keeps up, how much longer before you're a cover girl for Runner's World?

PhillyGirl

Lol they look taller because of the fact we are on the downslope of the bridge.

And because they're all taller.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I hope to create a cult of people who are as obsessed with the shake weight as runners are with running.

Time for a quick workout.

Ran my first 5k race today since October...I've shaved about 2.5 minutes off my time! What a great feeling.
