He was a point of pride for an Eagle fan in an era when it hasn't been easy to support the leadership of the team.  In the last couple years I thought he was past his prime, that opposing teams had figured him out, but nevertheless he was Jim Johnson.  It's sad to lose him, but the team should consider themselves lucky to have been coached by him for so long.

eagles had a top 3 defense last year and a top ten the year before and i can guarantee you it wasnt because of all the great players they have on that side of the ball

altho it came from a small segment of fans....primarily the kinds of fans who dont watch the games...one of the most assinine criticisms of the team over the last five years was that jim johnson somehow had lost it or had been figured out by the league

the man hadnt lost a thing...if he wasnt the best DC in the nfl he was 1a or b

Yep. He was what turned fairly average talent into an above-average team. It wasn't the offense the carried this team consistently over the last decade, that's for sure.

He was great. Until the most important games. The biggest games against the best teams in the playoffs were never kind to JJ.

Holla!

Eagle fans have always prided themselves with Eagle defense and grit, JJ almost always delivered.  Just think of the Dallas spanking :) :-D 8)  RIP

I would put JJ third, he is behind Belicheck (basically a dc) and Lebeau.

I loved how he blitzed, my only gripes are his getting handled in big games and the fact that minus last year he didn't care about stopping the run.

Any Giant game with Sean Payton as OC. The saint playoff game against Payton.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

rjs246

The Bucs NFCCG, the Superbowl, the Cardinals NFCCG, blabbity blah blah blah.

If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem, and for all of his exotic blitzes and brilliant schemes, ultimately he wasn't part of the solution.
