My seats went up $2 a ticket. I have 300 level seats.

unless you have a game plan or season tickets baseball ticket prices are irrelevant....for any game anytime except the opener you can buy lower levels seats for dirt cheap

A baseball source said last night that Amaro will hire Scott Proefrock, Baltimore's director of baseball administration, as an assistant general manager. An announcement could come today.

Proefrock joins Benny Looper and Chuck Lamar, whom Amaro already has named assistant general managers. Proefrock will assume the role Amaro held under former general managers Ed Wade and Pat Gillick, which was handling negotiations for big-league contracts and the general make up of the big-league roster. Proefrock was the assistant general manager for Tampa Bay from 1998-2005, when Lamar served as Tampa Bay's GM. He also worked with Lamar with the Atlanta Braves from 1991-95.

so the Phils now have both guys responsible for the Wade Boggs/Fred McGriff/Jose Canseco/Vinny Castilla/Greg Vaughn last-place mess 

(but they also drafted Upton, Baldelli and Josh Hamilton, so there's that)

Yeah, the .357 average is a clincher.  I'd still hoped Howard could take it, but I'll take your word for it about the $2m and say the team is better off this way.

So, Howard goes back for arbitration this year, then?

yeah, and next year, as long as howard doesn't actually sign any offer from the phillies.

Which is why Howard turned down the $1M after his rookie year, it kept his arbitration eligibility to make less at the time.
