Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with free agent Dan Klecko.

Klecko has primarily played defensive tackle during his five-year NFL career with the Colts and Patriots, but the Eagles plan to move him to fullback.

The 5-foot-11, 275-pound Klecko has some experience as a fullback in short-yardage and goal line situations, and he caught a four-yard touchdown pass in last year's AFC Championship Game. Eagles coach Andy Reid apparently sees Klecko as the kind of athlete who could blossom on offense if he practiced at fullback on a full-time basis.

Klecko, the son of former Jets defensive lineman Joe Klecko, was the Patriots' fourth-round draft pick in 2003. He won two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and one with the Colts.

I'm ordering up my Klecko jersey now. He'll probably wear 11, right?

The man. The myth. The legend.

This news makes my day, no sarcasm.  He's a football player.  Special teams and goal line run blocking just got better.

The Eagles barely use the fullback, but it's nice to have a wrecking ball available if needed.

I think your right - and he fills a need .

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i'm sure the special teams are much better off

Quote...drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (117th pick overall) in the 2003 Draft. Klecko has been a versatile player; he graduated from Marlboro High School, and then Temple University as an accomplished defensive lineman but was moved to linebacker in the summer of 2004.[1] He has seen time on special teams, and in his rookie season was a blocking fullback of five of the Patriots' nine running touchdowns. ...

Klecko was cut by the Patriots after the 2006 preseason....

Shortly after his released from New England, Klecko was picked up by the Indianapolis Colts.

With the Colts, he occasionally filled in for the injured James Mungro as fullback during the 2006 season. Dan scored his first career touchdown on a 2nd and goal 4-yard pass from Peyton Manning against the Miami Dolphins on December 31st, 2006.

He also caught a touchdown against the New England Patriots, his former team, to tie the game in the 3rd quarter of the 2006 AFC Championship game. The Colts went on to win that game. They advanced to and won Super Bowl XLI in Miami, FL.

He's got three rings.

Who needs a #1 receiver when you can add athletes like Dan Klecko?

PS: All kidding aside, I like the signing.

He's gotta be better than Cecil Martin....

I like it.  I can't see him not making the team, either...
