I like nasty Nate a lot, and as is the case with most of us blue-collar philadelphians, I tend to root for the underdog or the "little guy."  All that being said, I like C-Buck. The guy has a huge heart and has proven himself dedicated, by over coming those injuries....MOST RB's would have quit and been sitting home for good. When used, he has always been productive, and he is a VERY good blocker on blitz pick up's. since he just got a new contract, I can't see the birds' cutting him.

I read on the inside some place, that it's very possible the birds keep a combo of 4 backs on the roster. I was once very high on FB Jason Davis. He was impressive up close and in person, as both a blocker and a receiver, as rookie....then he broke his hand. He now reportedly looks out of shape and slow. If Nasty is going to make this team, he will have to show he can be an effective ST'er, and that he can play both backfield positions. He would be the best receiving FB on the roster, for sure...but he would have to prove to be a good lead blocker.

Let's not forget that B-West has also been injury prone, and this could play a role in how many backs they keep around. Personally, I don't care for Moats much. He can't block on blitz pick up's, and doesn't posess the lower body strength to run between the tackles....have you EVER seen an NFL RB who so easily gets tackled and knocked off his feet? I have not!  He is good for 2 things only, both of which tip off the opposing defense: When Moats is in the game, it's either a screen pass or an attempt to run the ball to the outside.

While Tapeh is a much better blocking FB than Josh Parry, he is still only average at best. How good could this ground game be with a Lorenzo Neal or *Cough* Former Eagle Fred McCrary lined up in front of B-West? Jason Davis seemed to be that guy, but it sure seems he blew it. For once, it will be nice to see the RB battles in camp. This team COULD BE built to absolutely punish defenses and chew up clock.
At first, I liked the idea of that concept, mostly to keep our smallish defense fresh and off the field for those few extra posessions. (see both Saint losses)...But now that we have increased size on the defensive side of the ball, added TKO, and the Gocong & Bunkley projects seem to be going well, I think this defense could be very, very good. If this defense fails, it is on Jim Johnson this time!
I have been wanting JJ gone for a few year's anyways, as I feel he has not adapted his now ancient and too easy to read, blitz packages.

Will they FINALLY get it after all these years of wasting opportunites? RUN THE FREAKIN BALL! You have a nasty, mammoth O-line, who wants to punish people. To get the ball jammed down you're throat when you know it's coming, and you still can't stop it, is simply degrading to a defense. It serves notice that we are going to punch you in the mouth, and sap you're energy. It also keeps the defense fresh, and limits the opposing high power offenses' posessions. (see both Saint games again)
Seems to me, that they finally do get it. They drafted like they get it, they made personnel moves like they get it, and they are now acting like they get it....Till we open in GB and they throw the ball 43 times....HA!HA!

Yeah...why is that?  Do you actually UNDERSTAND what it is you are watching during the games, or are you too drunk? Buck has made himself in to a better than average blocker on blitz duties. As compared to when he first came in to the league, his progress in proctecting D-Mac on the blitz has been like night and day. I guess you missed several of the rather crushing blocks he layed on blitzer's last season.
Now, if you are laughing at Buck being productive when healthy and used, I know you aren't drunk, you're just an idiot with no football IQ.
Newsflash for ya....If he hadn't got hurt in that NFC title game against the Rams, the Eagles probably win that game. Or did you forget how he was shredding the Ram defense and chewing up first downs & clock, in the first half?  Once he got hurt and left the game, and Staley was ineffective, Reid abandoned the run and threw the ball too much... Changed the entire complex of that game.

Add the fact that Buck has a CAREER YPC average of  4.4 yards an attempt, thus rushing for 1,473 yards on 338 carries, has 47 receptions in 46 games played, with an average of 11 YPC, and 14 combined TD's, to say he isn't productive when used, is just plain stupid.
You do the math..average out those stats over a 6 year career without injuries, and the fact the Eagles don't really run the ball.
Last but not least, if you don't root for this guy's tremendous heart and work ethic after all he has been through, you are gutless, and not a REAL EAGLES FAN! You must be one of the guys that wanted Ricky Williams here on that 99 draft day....you, 30 idiots, and Ed Rendell......what a joke!

lol...Buckhalter is a liability.  He's a mediocre back who shows enough potential to keep him around, but supplements that by having ligaments that must be like crusty old rubberbands.  Certainly not worth the soapbox treatment.

First, I didn't read any of this. Second, you must have one raging hard on for Buckhalter if you're willing to write this much (again) about a guy who has nothing to contribute to this team. He may not be the laughing stock of a pass protector that he used to be, but he isn't exactly a world beater either. And none of that matters because he's farging hurt all of the time.

You need to settle down with Buckhalter's tip. Never rub another man's rhubarb.

Buckhalter eats it on blitz pickups.  He's averagish on receiving.  He's a good runner when healthy, but that hasn't been very often.

He is what he is.  Trying to make him sound like an all-around back is foolish.

Buck needs to be farging put down. I don't care if it's Ilaoa who takes his spot or some other schmuck, but he needs to go.

really?  I honestly thought he was under utilized last season.  He ran the ball well when given the chance.
I agree. Eevry time he got the ball, it seemd like he made a t least 4 yards.

rjs246

What are we arguing about here? Buck has always been fine when he had the ball in his hands and could actually find his way onto the field. The fact is that he's average to below average in three very important categories: blitz pickup, receiving and having knees.

That means I don't want him on this team or anywhere other than the taterskins' sideline.

He's got knees!

They are both at home, floating in jars...
