QuoteThe Falcons recently had preliminary trade discussions with the Philadelphia Eagles about veteran backup Kelly Holcomb but there were no talks about such a deal Saturday.

DJ Shockley sprained his knee last night, so they'd be down to Harrington and Redman if it's anything serious...

I would think they may want Holcomb to compete for the starting job. Harrington isn't going to get it done, and Holcomb can manage the game well if they establish a decent running game.

Ugh...why?  Why not just take the 3-13 season and get a top QB propect next year?  What's Holcomb getting you?  8-8?  9-7 at best.  The Falcons just need to take this season on the chin, blame it on Vick, and draft a new "face" for their franchise.

That being said I hope we get at least a 5th for his ass.

it's a good point. That franchise needs to rebuild anyway and how often does a team get a built in excuse that won't have the fans up in arms?

That being said, I'd offer Feeley for a second  :sly

Rich McKay hasn't really been an Einstein since leaving Tampa for Atl. Who knows what he might give up for Holcomb after trading away Shaub, especially since Shockley is now out for the year. A fifth seems very doable since they will probably sit well in the '08 draft, getting the Texans second rounder next year as part of the Schaub deal.

I agree with Joel here.  If there's ever been a year that a team could point at a player and lay the blame for their impending doom squarely on his shoulders, it's this year with Mexico.

Take it on the chin this year, end up with the worst record in the NFL and draft Brian Brohm in 2008.  Problem solved.
