Thinking outside the box where the Phillies are concerned means getting pieces of shtein like Kyle Loshe or taking a guy like Jon Lieber and putting him in the bullpen.

Dotel & Teixeira would have helped the Phillies.  What's sad is they wouldn't have even considered making those moves because doing so would require them to be creative and creative for the Phillies means Hawaiian bobble heads and dollar dog nites.

Winning teams do smart things and losers like the Phillies do things that make you scratch your head until it bleeds.

Not that the Phils system has anyone the Rangers would want other than Bourn and maybe Carrasco, but why would the Phils dump 4 prospects for a Bora$ player that has nowhere to play?  He's not a 3B.

Another DL trip today:  Barajas  :yay

Condrey is back for the millionth time

Why couldn't he play third exactly?  He's a gold glove first baseman but there's no way in your mind he couldn't make the transition to third?

Come on, Ed.

i agree that texeria could play thris...at least as well as dobbs or helms....but why do they need another bat?

what they need is a pitcher so that jamie moyer isnt their number two starter next year

plus the phils dont have four guys in their system that would equal saltalamacchia alone much less saltalamachia and the other guys the braves gave up

I absolutely agree they need pitching, IGY.  But getting another power bat, especially a guy who hits right-handed (when he's not hitting as a lefty, obviously) for next year when Rowand heads back to Chicago, is essential.

wait, let me get this straight.  when he's not hitting right-handed, he hits lefty?  this is getting way too confusing.

go phillies!

Addition by subtraction. Might as well release him once one of the injured comes back from the dl. Roberson gives you speed and Werth is a decent hitter, there's no room for 3 catchers.

They're going to sign Andruw Jones in the offseason.

Come on, Ed.

Using that thinking, you could also easily put Pujols, Derrek Lee and Doug Mientkiewicz at 3B, right?

igy's gonna be feelin sour when the phillies win the world series.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
