No one is proven, but at least these players have been productive LBs in college. Gocong was a good DE in college, not a LB. Could he become a good LB in the NFL? Sure, but it is a much bigger risk than drafting a player who has played it their entire college career. Gocong is still learning the position and didn't even get in a preseason game last year. If you want to go with Gocong then at least have a plan b at that position.

Jesus, Gocong was a "good" DE at a shtein wipe school, probably for a reason.  Trusting he's the answer at a new position, because you know, he showed so much on IR, makes my eyes bleed.  I need to punch something.
Anyone but Reid.

If by "good" you mean one of the best defensive players in D-1AA history, then yeah. Obviously, going to a D-1AA school is something to hold against him because Dexter Coakley, Ed Hartwell, Rashean Mathis, Jared Allen and Jordan Beck all suck in the NFL.

The ONLY thing you can hold against Gocong is that he's at a new position. He probably has all the plays down now. He has all the athletic ability in the world. What's going to stop him from being a good player? I'm not saying he's going to be a Pro Bowler, but to think that Posluszny is a better option is ridiculous.

Gentlemen it would appear the Eagles FO are sitting on their hands and doing nothing.

There's a lot of subtraction on this team and nothing being done to replace the talent.

Very frustrating!

I agree completely

Yea, I saw Vacchiano's blurb posted on KFFL, but, I'll believe it when I see it. Wbster isn't exactly one of Coughlin's favorites...

It's not as funny as William James (nee Peterson) thinking he's as good as any CB in the NFL.

Would you prefer a player with no confidence in himself and thinks he sucks?

Look, I understand you miss Willie P and all, but him thinking he's *the best* is overkill.

Pos would probably play weakside here anyway, and after a full year to recover his knee he will be even better. I don't know what you don't like about him, but he is a stud.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Munson

I'd rather not draft a WLB considering we've already got the "bright spot" of LB's there in Gaither. If they were to draft a WLB, it woild mean they mean to move Gaither inside or strong side, which he isn't equipped to do. Worry about finding Trotters' replacement and a SLB first, then see what pans out at WLB.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I think Gaither could play SAM fine.

The Eagles LBs currently suck. The best LBs last year were Matt McCoy and Omar Gaither. They both play WLB. Why would you take another WLB, where that is likely your best LB position?

i dont know if its possible and if gaither has a body that can take on more weight but were he a little heavier i think he could be an excellent mlb

Yes.  He could definitely play MLB.  Probably a little short to play SAM in the Eagles' system... but I'd rather have 3 Gaithers at LB than 3 Dhani's.  A playmaker is a playmaker, and a bum is a bum.  We put a lot of emphasis on the SAM vs. MIKE vs. WIL crap, but it really comes down to if a guy has the instincts and skills to make a lot of tackles and the occasional game-changing play (INT, big sack, forced fumble).  I don't care if they play a couple of guys out of position at linebacker, as long as the guys in there can make some damn plays.

Rome

Dhani Jones is a worthless piece of shtein and I am sick of worthless pieces of shtein starting the Eagles because they refuse to address the positions in the offseason.

ice grillin you

im probably being picky here but id like my outside backers to be a little more athletic...when you look at the other personel the team has at lb gaither at wil is good but is he good enough?

he doesnt have that explosiveness i like at the outside lb spots...thats why i think he would be a real good middle guy (were he bigger)

Hood's deal with Arizona was for $15M.

Cory Schlesinger to the Dolphins....2-yr deal

That Fowler guy signed an offer with the Eagles.  The Cowboys have 7 days to match (no compensation).
