Still... they better go OLB in the first round. No excuses.

Never happen. Sad as it is to say I almost wouldn't be surprised if they went for a lineman.

They can't avoid it forever. Look at it this way. If we get to 26 and Posluszny is still on the board and no safeties or corners they like are available, do you really think they'd reach simply because they don't value linebackers? They aren't that stupid. Anyone can see their weaknesses.

Free agency brought three visitors to town Friday.

One was unrestricted free agent Kevin Curtis, a career No. 3 wide receiver at St. Louis fast becoming Plan B for the Eagles. Curtis might be one Donte' Stallworth out-of-state press conference from occupying the team payroll.

Two was restricted free agent Ryan Fowler, a product of Duke by way of the Dallas Cowboys who at 6-3 and 250-pounds could be the successor to veteran middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

Three? That would be head coach Andy Reid, who interrupted a leave of absence to meet with the guests, the first outsiders to visit the organization in free agency. Reid made instant – and it appears – lasting impressions. It can't hurt recruiting and may be a sign he's working through the deep legal and personal issues that soon will determine the futures of his 23 and 21-year-old sons.

we are looking at fowler as a starter over trotter?

Yea, I saw Vacchiano's blurb posted on KFFL, but, I'll believe it when I see it. Wbster isn't exactly one of Coughlin's favorites...
Maybe the voices aren't real, but, they've got some pretty good ideas...

OLB is actually a position that they have really good reasoning  to not spend a first rounder on one. I still wouldn't take Posluszny in the first.

So you're ok withGocong starting at a position the guy has never played in his life?

I'm not saying Pos would be a better SAM than WILL, but still. I don't trust Gocong starting at SAM. He's never played the position before. He may have talent, but I'd rather go into the season with a more proven player. Pos might be the safest pick in the entire draft.

Slower Matt McCoy with better leadership skills at SLB =  :-D

That theory is a joke dude. No one in the draft is proven. They've proven that they're good players in college. I'm completely fine with Gocong at SLB. Unless they can get someone who was a stud SLB in college and has the tools to be (where the only person possible is Lawrence Timmons), Gocong is easily the best bet.

The BIGSTUD

No one is proven, but at least these players have been productive LBs in college. Gocong was a good DE in college, not a LB. Could he become a good LB in the NFL? Sure, but it is a much bigger risk than drafting a player who has played it their entire college career. Gocong is still learning the position and didn't even get in a preseason game last year. If you want to go with Gocong then at least have a plan b at that position.

ice grillin you

And that's fine if they can get him on the cheap, but do you think the FO thought that he would go this long without any offers?  Do you think he was someone they had targeted as a possible replacement for Lewis or would you say that it's something that has been a recent development because of the lack of interest he's been getting?

thats a good question...my guess would be that the eagles ranked the UFA's this year from best to worst...then let everyone hit the market and waited to see who was left over...then they go after people they thought would be good value signings...if doss is healthy hes falls under that category...at the same time if no safetys were out there right now that peeked their interest they will just go with considine

if the eagles dont sign someone right out the gate then i dont think they are targeting them

so imo if they sign doss he 'fell to them' as opposed to them targeting him
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Agreed. If they really were interested in him, they would have signed him and maybe overpaid a bit before the market was set.

It's not as funny as William James (nee Peterson) thinking he's as good as any CB in the NFL.

4and26

Gentlemen it would appear the Eagles FO are sitting on their hands and doing nothing.

There's a lot of subtraction on this team and nothing being done to replace the talent.

Very frustrating!

Would you prefer a player with no confidence in himself and thinks he sucks?

No, we really can't use Mike Rumph.
Anyone but Reid.
