Schefter again:

The Eagles made an offer to Colts S Mike Doss and he didn't accept it. Andy Reid called him personally and said he wants him. The two sides hope to work something out...  :yay

Seabiscuit36

That would be a nice signing if he's healthy.  Look at Andy going after the bad character guy.  Shoot em UP

Doss hasn't even turned 26 yet.

I liked the part about A.R. calling him personally to get the deal done.

At least they understand that Considine blows.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

maybe Andy's trying to sell Britts guns

I wonder if they're going to actually try to bring him in for a visit, or just make the offer remotely.

BTW, isn't Doss one of those hard hitters that doesn't really cover well?  (a la Mike Lewis...?)

ice grillin you

yes he is ff...but you know the grass is always greener on the other side...hes another lewis clone and hes coming off a torn up knee...eagles are obviously trying to get a good player on the cheap

its more clear than ever that lewis got the boot because of money and not that he couldnt cover...which is fine if you didnt wanna pay mike but dont do what you did to him and then go out and get an identical player

Doss went to Ohio State and is coming off a torn-up knee.

Damon Moore II?

Doss is a much better cover guy than Lewis, he's also a better safety.

Was reading his bio on Wikpedia, check this little blurb out at the end:
QuoteIt has been recently reported that Doss is close to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles

actually id say doss is a better hitter and run defender than lewis...they are pretty much the same player overall tho...in fact ironically much like lewis even before doss' knee injury last year he lost his starting job to a rookie due to his lack of coverage skills

yet for some reason there will be a GET DOSS/LEWIS SUCKS crowd

I don't know much about Doss, but I do know that he was a decent player before his injury.  So I'm going to go off what seems to be the general consensus here in regards to his coverage skills which seem to be on par with Lewis.  And we're talking about before his injury which means he very well may not be quite the same player he was before.  I doubt it, because ACL tears are easily repaired today but it's still a possibility that his coverage skills will be less than they were before.

In any case, I'll be very interested to see what kind of money they offer him vs the amount they offered Lewis.

i would venture to say that the eagles think pre injury doss and lewis are equal in playing ability but with doss having been on the market without much serious interest and coming off an injury the eagles are trying to get him on the cheap...which is admirable...all im saying is dont expect an upgrade and it might be a downgrade by bringing doss in the fold

for record i like both lewis and doss and would take either on my team
