2007 NFL Offseason Stuff Thread

My idea for NFL OT: Flip a coin, winner gets to decide if they want the ball first or to kick off first. The clock starts at 0:00 and counts up until the team that gets the ball scores or there is a change of possession. If the team that gets the ball first scores on their first possession, the other team has the same amount of time to tie or win the game; for instance, if Team A gets the ball first and scores a field goal after 5:15, Team B has 5:15 to score a FG and tie (leading to another round of OT with the clock starting at 0:00, with Team B getting the ball first) or score a TD and win. If Team A turns the ball over or punts without scoring, it becomes sudden death. If Team A does score, it is not sudden death; however long Team A took to score, Team B has that full amount of time to even it up, even if they turn the ball over and even if Team A scores again in the process. As in college, after the second round of OT, teams have to go for 2 after scoring a TD.

The rules might be too complicated for the masses, and it will lead to longer OTs which the networks won't like, but it's definitely a fair system.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Giants recently held a tryout for street free agent wide receiver Charles Rogers.
Rogers was in the 4.9 range while running forties during a workout for the Chiefs in February. We're betting against him ever making an impact.
