Agreed.  According to the pick value chart, this would mean Simeon Rice straight up is worth the 21st overall pick.

He's 33 and coming off a season where he only played 8 games and only had 2 sacks.

Kind of like the Vikings decided to pick 9th instead of 7th in 2003?
That wasn't an awful idea considering they were cap strapped, and absolutely knew they could get their guy two spots later for a cheaper price. Otherwise, it was stupid. You have a top 10 prospect you want but you risk losing him over a few dollars? Dumbasses. It isnt like the league wouldnt allow them to sign McKinney anyways.

Yeah, I wasnt positive so after I posted that I checked. The Vikings had the 7th pick the year before in 2002 and took McKinnie then.

It's all about the money:
QuoteNEW YORK -- Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was fined $100,000 by the NFL for wearing a cap during Super Bowl media day that promoted a sponsor not authorized by the league.

I can kind-of understand if it were during the game, but during media day?!?
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

DH

It violated the NFL's deal w/ Gatordae which is the official drink of the league.

SunMo

100,000 for Super Bowl visibility and publicity now?  probably worth it for Vitamin Water
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Cerevant

My guess is that the NFL knows that VW will pay Urlacher back, so they fined him for how much it would have cost to pay for the advertising legitimately.

Does anyone else find this paragraph more than a little strange?

Quote"[NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell] is going to be all over any team that drafts players with borderline character," an unidentified team official said, according to Pro Football Weekly. "You are not going to see a draft like, for instance, Cincinnati's [in 2006], where they took four criminals in one draft, because the owners are going to start getting fined."

So players are going to be eligible to be drafted yet the commissioner is going to fine teams for drafting them?

Uhh... wtf?

rjs246

Jesus I wish the offseason was over.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.
