I was listening to Chris Carter on Sirius radio this morning, and he makes a great point - not only did the Eagles execute well, but they had an amazing game plan going into the game.  As a number of others have pointed out (sarcastically), the Giants were actually SURPRISED for a number of plays.  Can I get a "Hell Yeah" for the Westbrook-Buck 2 back set?

Also, it was nice to have a QB out there who feels like a Philly QB.  I like the fire and the passion.  No giggling after throwing a pick.  No whiney-faced expressions when someone runs the wrong route or misses a block.  Right in their face, getting the job done.  McNabb may be a better athlete and probably a better QB, but Garcia is leading this team.

Garcia is playing well, but don't kid yourself.

Well, unless you rely completely on stats, you could argue until you are blue in the face about one QB vs. another.  Some would say that DMac's tendancy to physically and/or mentally fall apart in big games - to the point where he is puking on the field - might diminish his value as a QB.

Still, that is the least part of my point.  Garcia is giving this offense the kind leadership that it has been sorely missing in the AR era.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

The reason why they were surprised, as the NY papers pointed out, was that the Eagles, not known as a running team, ran it right up the gut of the Giants' defense--out of a spread formation in which they usually pass.

...a chance for what?  Does anyone give a shtein about making the playoffs anymore?

To me, 0-16 and 10-6 are basically the same, assuming the end result is that some other team wins the Super Bowl.

I'm just happy they are playing hard and not bending over and taking it. There is heart in this team. So regardless if we make the playoffs or not, I'd like to see them go down fighting and playing 4 qrtr games like the last 2 weeks.  Its easier to say we have no chance than it is to say we do.

Again... chance of what?  Sneaking into the playoffs and losing in the first round?

But 0-16 wouldn't be fun to watch at all. We watch football for entertainment value. I was thoroughly enterained last night. If the Eagles make it interesting and give me a few more good weeks of fun NFL football, then I really don't care if they get bounced out. For the NFL now adays, all you need is a ticket to get in. Once someone gets into the playoffs, who knows. Homefield advantage used to be critical, but it has really lost its distinct 'advantage' in recent years. The Colts always got it, and got bounced. The Eagles had it and got bounced. Denver had it last year and got bounced. And with the way the NFC is, who really fargin' knows anymore. It should at least be entertaining.

I couldn't imagine sitting through 16 games like they played against the Tennesee Titans; or any losses that they had this season -- all of them have been horribly played.

What team in the NFC can't the Eagles play with?  The mighty Bears almost lost to the Nyucks yesterday.  AT HOME.

The Eagles almost beat New Orleans on their turf, they beat Dallas, Atlanta's garbage, Seattle's a joke. . . on and on it goes.

...is just not any fun. it takes the enjoyment out of it. they may get bounced in the wildcard game in the playoffs. or they may win. no one friggin knows.

i didnt watch more than an couple of minutes of the playoffs last year. the birds getting it, potentially extends the enjoyment of football season 1 more week.

there are a handful of people that are still silently hoping the birds to lose so that they may be right on some issues that they were so definitively adament about. for example...1-that andy reid has lost this team. well it's shown now that that's crap, he hasnt lost this team. 2-that the 3 game road trip in december vs division opponents will kill them and they have no chance unless they start 6-2...again...crap.

a game like yesterday is why i watch the birds to begin with. and i want to see that for as long as possible.

i dont think, as of right now, the defense is something i would call close to a championship calibur defense. but that doesnt mean i am not rooting for them to make the playoffs

I'm saying it's easy for you and others to say oh we don't have any chance, than saying we do.  Don't give people shtein on here when they look at it positively.  I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, the people who bitch and moan and then bash others know who they are.

actually, it's the positive people who start shtein with people who dont' think like them.  i don't care what anybody blieves, but when they start criticizing me for not thinking like them, we have a problem.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Big ups to Darwin Walker. It only took a hundred some running plays for him to get a good game under his belt.  :yay

Yeah. But I mean that game last night was one of the best NFL games generally I've seen in a while. All the lead changes, both teams answering the other team's drive, the magnitude of the game, etc. It was just very fun to watch. If the Eagles play with the same intensity, same great playcalling (yes, the playcalling was very good -- I think even naysayers have to give some credit that the coaching staff called a very good game), and play with confidence, they are an extremely entertaining football team. Too bad we didn't see this type of play earlier this year, but better late than never. Fortunately, too, the rest of the NFC hasn't exactly been lighting it up all year too.

Could the Eagles lay an egg against the Cowboys? Sure. Even with such a good win in such a hostile environment I still don't know if this team with respond consistently. However, with only two games left and the Eagles playing with a good deal of confidence, I think that they probably will play very well next week. Whether playing very well will be enough to pull off another win in Dallas is another question.

The bottom line is that this team has not proved me wrong about anything yet.  I said "season over" as soon as any chance to win the Super Bowl was lost, and I still believe that is true.  The Giants are an injury-riddled team, and the Eagles should have cleaned their clocks in week 2, but failed.  So, they made up for that.

You're right that it's "easy" to say you were wrong if you predict failure for the team you root for, but I'd have to counter and say it's pretty farging stupid if you believe all along, no matter what.

You still banking on an NBA title and a Stanley Cup for this year's Philly teams?
