QuoteEagles | Fast fact: Barber brothers versus Philly
Mon, 18 Dec 2006 09:02:46 -0800

New York Giants RB Tiki Barber touched the football 52 times against the Philadelphia Eagles in two games during the 2006 season, scoring one touchdown along the way. His twin brother, Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Ronde Barber, touched the football two times in one game versus Philadelphia and scored two touchdowns.

Three weeks ago I thought the season was toast.  It might still be for all we know.  If the Birds win the last two games, I'll be a shocked but ecstatic motherfarger, though.

P.S.  I still can't believe the three rushing TD's yesterday...

3rd and Goal from the 2 - They RUN THE BALL and score the TD.
4th and Goal from inside the 1 - They decide against the FG, RUN THE BALL, and score the TD.
3rd and 2 from the 28 - They RUN THE BALL for the first down, and Westbrook gets into the end zone for the TD.

I mean... who's coaching this team?  They're actually choosing to run the ball when it makes sense to do so, and they're having success with it too.  It's a nice change of pace.

Like I said earlier... it shocked the hell out of me when FOX put up the play selection chart and it showed that we had 22 rushes and 19 passes.  Thought I was in the twilight zone.

I was watching the game with a friend of mine (a Giants fan) and I know he got tired of me screaming, "Look at what happens when you run the ball!"

I'm saying it's easy for you and others to say oh we don't have any chance, than saying we do.  Don't give people shtein on here when they look at it positively.  I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, the people who bitch and moan and then bash others know who they are.

The bottom line is that this team has not proved me wrong about anything yet.  I said "season over" as soon as any chance to win the Super Bowl was lost, and I still believe that is true.  The Giants are an injury-riddled team, and the Eagles should have cleaned their clocks in week 2, but failed.  So, they made up for that.

You're right that it's "easy" to say you were wrong if you predict failure for the team you root for, but I'd have to counter and say it's pretty farging stupid if you believe all along, no matter what.

You still banking on an NBA title and a Stanley Cup for this year's Philly teams?

actually, it's the positive people who start shtein with people who dont' think like them.  i don't care what anybody blieves, but when they start criticizing me for not thinking like them, we have a problem.

Listen to this man.

Oh I agree totally. Like I said, I'm not pointing anyone out, including you.  I just think the team deserves some credit for the level of play the past few weeks.  It's just getting old having to read through pages of agrueing to get to the beef and potaotes.

I was listening to Chris Carter on Sirius radio this morning, and he makes a great point - not only did the Eagles execute well, but they had an amazing game plan going into the game.  As a number of others have pointed out (sarcastically), the Giants were actually SURPRISED for a number of plays.  Can I get a "Hell Yeah" for the Westbrook-Buck 2 back set?

Also, it was nice to have a QB out there who feels like a Philly QB.  I like the fire and the passion.  No giggling after throwing a pick.  No whiney-faced expressions when someone runs the wrong route or misses a block.  Right in their face, getting the job done.  McNabb may be a better athlete and probably a better QB, but Garcia is leading this team.
The Giants were surprised? Weren't we all? Not only running the ball but running it well. Am I the only one that was staring at the TV in disbelief when Buck ran the ball for the first TD? Am I the only one that still can't believe that after three 1st and goal running plays they still ran it on 4th down? How many times have they passed on 3rd and 2? This time there was a hole big enough I could have ran through it. (Then I would have handed the ball to Westbrook for the score) An effective running game! My God! Third and 2 and we didn't have to pass? On the goal line and it wasn't 3 pass plays and a FG? What is going on?
The fire and bad ass attitude is what I noticed the most. Looks like it might be having an effect on some of the rest of the team. That is a big difference between Garcia and McNabb. Dawk and Garcia need to knock some badass into McNabbs head. It also looked like Andy had some attitude Sun. He seemed a lot more animated and PO'd than normal. Instaed of standing on the sideline with a blank look on his face, he was actually gettin after people. That was good to see.
Seems to me that Garcia has lit a fire under Andys butt that I've never seen when McNabb is on the field.

...a chance for what?  Does anyone give a shtein about making the playoffs anymore?
Uh yeah. I give a shtein about making the playoffs. If you make the playoffs you have a chance of winning a game. And if you win that one you have a chance of winning another one. And if by chance you win em all you're champs. If you don't make the playoffs you have no chance. And don't bother. I know all the reasons why it couldn't possibly happen. But if we're in theres a chance, if we're not in theres no chance.

I didn't give the Eagles a chance and I'm sorry for that.  But how could I not with the recent play prior to the Carolina and Washington games.  Even then they were very unimpressive.  It's sad when we're even winning that it's hard to get excited about the team.  Yesterday was the first time probably since the first Cowboys game this team has played with any sort of emotion and heart.  If they can continue this and stay hot we could see a nice run in the playoffs.
