I'm sure not everywhere, but where I voted in Tuscaloosa it was at a table with other people sitting next to me, yes.

It's been long known that the great weakness of our system is the voter.  Many of the Founding Fathers preferred a more elitist system, because they understood that decisions made by uneducated, ignorant voters would eventually destroy the nation.  Elitist, sure...but you can't let the patients  run the asylum, the children the household, or the rabble the government.

What's more, the elite class, being saddled with this system, is divided into essentially two groups: statesmen (precious few of them) who try to overcome the fatal flaw by liberal policies that encourage health, education, and civic engagement, and the politicians (the great majority) who understand that a well educated public is a threat to their own power and wealth, so they do their best to deprive the people of health, education, and civic engagement.  Generally, there are more liberals in the former and more conservatives in the latter, but only generally.

i was just talking to my sisters girl about him on monday....shes a big time pub and we were all talking about the ballot initiatives this year and then it go into the races where you never heard of the candidates...and shes like i just vote R down the line....and i referenced peroutka as a reason why you should never do that and how ignorance is often a great reason to not cast a vote

The guy is a traitor.  You cannot be pro-slavery and American.  Sorry.  Should have stamped those fargers out when they were down.  Instead, they were allowed to fester and oppress blacks for another 100 years before the Union finally went down there and broke their school doors open.  Still, given the chance, guys like this would gladly secede and put slavery back.
