The democratic party is filled to the brim with sniveling farging cowards.  They had every chance to lead and punked out like the bitches they are.  Now it's up to the one guy who has made a career out of beating anyone in his way to get what the American underclass desperately needs.  Here's hoping those same sniveling cowards just shut the farg up and stay out of his way for once, because they're sure as farg not going to offer full-throated support.

I'm going to be interested to see the legal argument mapped tonight for the extent of Obama's planned executive order with immigration.  Democrats have been pretty vague so far regarding its legality.

Hasn't there already be precedent set by Reagan/HW in regards to what Obama is going to order? He isn't making them legal citizens, just stopping deportation and extending work visas for a temporary amount of time.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

been saying it for years....the left needs a progressive wing....the right keeps going right and the left keeps going center...

shtein republicans already had a significant far right caucus in their party and that wasnt enough....they took it further and formed the tea party

the problem is that we are still clearly a center right country....at least the people who vote are....so its really tough to run as a true progressive...that said even in strong democratic districts the left by and large refuses to run true progressives....because like you said they are cowards

Well that's his argument, but the sweeping nature of it is somewhat unprecedented.  HW was working within the constraints of a law which had just been passed & I know Republicans phrase what Reagan did as dealing with a "loophole" in a newly passed law.  This is obviously a little different than those circumstances in terms of the power being wielded.  I haven't read the vox link yet though to see the legal basis.  I'll check it out.

EDIT after reading some of the memorandum -- I find it a little interesting the administration on p.6 cites Youngstown and specifically the quote used "when the President takes measures incompatible with the expressed will of Congress, his power is at its lowest ebb."  I think that is at least a point to differentiate a bit between what he's doing and HW/Reagan where it seemed like they were acting in concert with Congressional intent whereas it's less clear here (or that's the argument anyway).

Let's throw it over to the CF legal expert Legendz...

Need to get you a CF backdrop so you can do video hits while dropping the legal knowledge

I mean there's a definite argument that it's legal, it's just frustrating to me to see this not get done in 09/10 when Democrats had the opportunity & then Obama says 18 months ago he can't do anything because "I'm not an emperor" and then he does it.   A little foresight would've been nice at any point.

"We are a nation of immigrants" line is always one that I enjoy throwing out there to the racists whites who decry the fact that so many black and brown and asian people are in the country.

These "salt of the earth" white folks who get on their soapboxes are awful.

I am sure the internet is blowing up because of Obama's speech.

There's right and then there's wrong.  Wrong is deporting people with American children.  Yeah, technically they're undocumented, but they're still parents with American children regardless if they got here without going through the formal process.

How farging heartless are we as a people that we'd separate families?   Goddamn Republicans... that's how heartless we are.

maybe i have a different definition of salt of the earth than they do but part of that definition to me would include doing the jobs that most people cant or wont do

and i know if i wanted hard work dedication and pride in an employee i would choose the guy who traveled 1500 miles thru rivers over deserts and in car trunks to apply for it

To the surprise of no one, most of the truck drivers I manage are fairly extreme right wingers.  1 dude in particular takes the cake though and yesterday he actually said that the anchor babies can stay but the parents need to gtfo.  It's a shame because he's actually a really funny dude and nice to talk to until you get him on politics.

The salt of the earth thing i was going for would be better termed as "MA" or even one of these good ol boy rednecks down here.

The type who live in Kansas or something who love Brownback and will spew hatred towards "those damn mexicans".

The good ol boys are even worse...they'll hire the immigrants as day laborers and cuss the shtein out of them.

Bottom line is the intolerance is sickening

That reminds me of a friend I have, actually he and his wife. We got to know each other fairly well and had a lot of common interests. I hadn't realized but political views and such had never come up until one day he was saying how he and his wife always try to catch Rush when they can. It surprised the hell out of me. After maybe a 40 second foray into politics I could see where it would be going and I think we both decided to leave it alone. We still get along fine. I remember once Bill Mahar said the difference between liberals and conservatives is that conservatives only like people like themselves. I'd like to think that was true but I find people who consider themselves liberal are often just as condemning and repulsed by their counterpart. I think we'd all be better off if we had more of a tendency to overlook differences rather than looking for them, and not being so quick to judge, even when the other people are idiots.
