Because anything can be debated, except the existence of god and non-reality of climate change.

It doesn't matter who you vote for. Like Dio said, the vast majority are politicians instead statesmen. Whichever of the two candidates, that you readily have the option to choose, you select, we lose because politicians are greedy dickweeds.

Regarding Hogan, the Governor elect in Maryland:  his old man was the only Republican on the House Judiciary Committee who voted for all three articles of impeachment against Nixon.  It's my understanding that he suffered substantial political fallout from within his own party--imagine that, conservatives eating their own when they don't goose step in time--from that stand, and it gives me some hope that maybe the modern day Hogan was raised with some values beyond "get yours, farg everyone else," which appears to be the Republican credo.

QuoteThe international pipeline would funnel tar sands oil through Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska - right through the Rosebud tribal lands.

Scott argued the pipeline violates the 1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie that gave the land known as the Black Hills to the Sioux Nation.

"When it comes to treaties, they forget about us. ... People forget that we're a sovereign nation," Scott said. "Everybody else ... they're just guests here."

Oh man, how many times are these guys going to fall for the "this is your spot, we're totally not going to touch it, we pinky swear" trick?

The man. The myth. The legend.

I'm going to be interested to see the legal argument mapped tonight for the extent of Obama's planned executive order with immigration.  Democrats have been pretty vague so far regarding its legality.

The Republicans have, like obedient puppets, stuck to the "it's illegal" script very well.  But that's all they say.  How is it illegal?  What laws are they saying he is going to break?

Essentially the clause in the Constitution that requires the President to 'take care' that the laws are faithfully executed by his office.

Basically, if when it comes to executive orders, he has the power to issue executive orders if the orders are dealing with how to better enforce laws that are on the books -- he can channel resources or do what he thinks is best to help uphold the law unilaterally basically.  What he can't do is essentially create new law by circumventing Congress.

Republicans are going to say that he's willfully not enforcing the laws that are on the books which violates the Constitution whereas Democrats are likely going to argue that he's just implementing laws which have already been passed.

I think (before listening to exactly what he says) he's probably going to find a legal basis to justify it but the spirit of what he's doing is probably circumventing the Constitution.
