There is some strange crap going on in Washington right now.  Historically when the President requests Congress to meet jointly for a speech, the request is a formality only.  It is in effect, an order to convene Congress, put nicely.  And Congress always responds by inviting the President. 

With this President however, the Republicans are looking for any chance to pick a fight.  Boehner was reportedly on board with the Wed. speech as of this morning...and then changed his mind.

Now it's another standoff....which Obama will likely lose unless he's all of a sudden found some balls.

p.s.  Obama doesn't want to do Thursday night, which is what Boehner had the gall to advise him to do, because he's not interested in competing with the first game of the NFL season for eyeballs.
