Republicans already succeeded in doing that. It's called the Patriot Act. That doesn't excuse this type of Big Brother bullshtein from Massachusetts state law makers, but don't act as though it hasn't already happened from the other side of the aisle.

Yeah, because the dems were all against the Patriot Act, complete bullshtein

QuoteAs I have emphasized many times, Democrats support the basic authorities contained in the PATRIOT Act. We voted for the original Act in 2001. We unanimously supported the reauthorization bill that passed the Senate last summer. And in recent months, we have been vigilant to ensure that no provision of the Act would expire during ongoing negotiations over a long-term extension of the law.

The Patriot Act was from both sides of the aisle

The only one that voted against it was Feingold, every other dem except Landrieu from La. voted for the bill.

Like I said, both sides are guilty as hell here. I'm not arguing anything other than your insinuation that Democrats alone are the culprits.

Russ Feingold is the only Senator to tell Bush to cram it up his ass.

211 Republicans in the House voted yea, while 3 voted no.

145 Democrats in the House voted yea, while 62 voted no.

Plenty of cowardice to go around to be sure, but let's not go overboard on the Democrats here.  At least a few of them recognized it for what it had the potential to be... a revised set of Nuremburg Laws.

I argue because I can't stand blind partisans. I grew up with two of them and no matter how much they fought neither one was ever able to see the other's side of the argument. I suppose that should have been a lesson and I should have given up years ago but hope springs eternal it seems. Someday I'll get some sort of wingbat to admit that both sides are farged and no political position is right for every situation...

What? All of the B.S. on this board? your cracking me up. I've come more to the middle in the past 5 years, then half of these libs on this board would ever open their mind to. I voted for Bush, but half way thru I saw the light with that jack ass and his little band of repubs.
