Haven't the Dems in Congress realized that they should just hitch their wagons to the Obama train and enjoy the ride?

Excellent examples of why a large Federal Gov't is a bad thing should require term limits so congressmen can do what is right instead of what will get them elected indefinitely.

That would help with part of the problem, but not all.  There will still be districts where the "value" of a Congressman will be worth more than another.

Taxing people in PA or NJ to fund projects in CA or NM makes no sense and is tremendously wasteful.

NJ definitely is

i used to think that jersey was worthless but after giving it some thought, i've found that it serves 2 noble purposes.

1.  without it, all of the dirty jersey shore ocean water would be washing up in philly.
2.  without new jersey, all of the dirty jersey people would be washing up in philly.

Wife did her dissertation on the Pine Barrens for her Masters Degree.  Interesting ecological and historical place.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i love this

The quote attributed to Washington is incomplete and somewhat erroneous.  It comes from the Treaty of Tripoli (and, therefore, is from the government of the United States, rather than from Washington personally).  The full title of the document is Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary.  In fact, the final treaty was signed after the inauguration of John Adams, rather than by Washington.

Quote"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

If you need a sure cure for insomnia, you can find the full text of the treaty at the Avalon Project by Yale Law School.
