QuoteMcCain is the loser.  Obama is the President.  I see Obama's actions as slightly more relevant in general.

Right. The point being that it's not just McCain, it's the entire Republican party. Like flies on shtein they hop on board whatever pathetic reason to attack Obama that they can find. Like the above, or complaing about him shaking Chavez's hand (or even flying down there for the summit), or trying to trim only 100 million from the budget - All while they're claiming Obama's not bipartisan enough. You know, as if Obama were the one playing the gay political games.

So now even when he is consciously cutting costs he should be attacked? How convenient.

What he's cutting won't even pay the interest on what he's already spent.

By the way, were are all these jobs the stimulus bill has created?

So he just shouldn't have made an attempt to cut it, then. Gotcha.

And are you referring to the teaching jobs and police jobs and other state jobs that don't need to be cut because of the money that was given to the states? Or are you referring to the infrastructure work that is being/will be done that requires workers?

The stimulus didn't save jobs in the private sector because it has almost no power to do that. But you know, anything anyone can think of to bitch about...

EDIT: I'm not going to go tit for tat with you here because I see big problems with the stimulus bill, but give me a break. We're at the 3 month point right now. Are you so spastic that you need results to this shtein immediately? How soon is soon enough? Five minutes after the bill is signed? Ten? Then it's fare game to complain? How about the fact that markets are starting to respond and companies are starting to report actual increases in earnings? Are we just forgetting about those things?

Sorry, I was under the impression that Obama said the bill would CREATE jobs.

And no, I'm not talking about jobs working on the infrastructure that more than likely will be awarded to foriegn companies or companies that employ foriegn workers.

shorebird

...And the stimulus bill didn't create jobs in the private sector because no money was given to said sector. It was almost all given to government institutions.

shorebird

...which in turn has done almost nothing to stimulate the economy.

You're right, Bush took care of giving money to the private sector with TARP. And wow, that worked out beautifully.

Oh yeah, thats the liberal by line, when all else fails, lets go back in time and talk about how bad Bush screwed up.

rjs246

Please. TARP was and is a clusterfarg. That's not liberal, that's fact. Even Republicans (ESPECIALLY Republicans with any fiscal sense at all) are deriding how awful TARP is.

The stimulus was designed to stimulate through government programs. It was advertised as such and that is how it is being implemented. Is your argument really that money should have gone to private industry? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of calling it 'private' industry? Hasn't TARP essentially rendered our financial institutions governmentally owned?

You're just complaining for the sake of complaining. You don't have a point.

You don't even believe in anything, faker.

At least some of it should have, instead of just caking off the Auto industry and the big banks with even more of our money. One of the big reasons private industry is in such trouble is that idiots in government and banking wanted to approve bad loans in the housing industry and now people have no money to spend and people who pay their bills but work in residencial construction are out of work.

Yes, everyone in this country already knows Bush screwed up, and that TARP was one of his worst mistakes. But let's keep bringing it up when someone wants to be critical of the annnonited one one and his stimulus bill.

shorebird

...and I'm still waiting to hear what jobs have been created.

So some of the money should have gone to private industry? You just named two private industries that got lots of money. So there, some of it DID go to private industry. I assume you're happy now and we can stop arguing that point.

We are less than 100 days removed from eight years of the Bush/Cheney clusterfarg. He's going to be brought up whether you like it or not. There are things that I take issue with when it comes to Obama but I'll tell you what, the Republican hysteria around the things that have taken place over the last three months is scarier than anything the administration has done. Electing a Democrat has sent the right into the outer reaches of rational behavior and it is farging embarrassing. The right hasn't come up with anything productive other than to chant 'cut taxes' repeatedly and desperately hope that Obama fails. That isn't a platform and until they come up with something other than 'wah wah wah I don't like how Obama is going about trying to fix our problems' they are going to become more and more irrelevant.

So you're position on this is that every single infrastructure-related job is going to go to foreign workers? Ok. That definitely makes sense and you are definitely a rational human being who is capable of having a rational conversation. Christ.
