QuoteTHIS MONEY DOESN'T EXIST.  IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW GOOD THE PROGRAMS ARE OR AREN'T.

True. Neither did the previous 700 billion (or whatever it was), though. Neither did all the debt that principally Reagan and Bush accumulated to artificially make the economy look better. I'm not sure it will work but I'm not sure we have much of a choice. This is probably the government's last chance. If things aren't turned around then it/we might fold it up.

Kunstler did warn us about this Long Emergency, though....

Yay they did it, I'm so proud of these guys and gals.

One other thing on this bill, I think it's strange that some on here are all pissy with the fuss put up over this bill. Just because it has been done like this in the past does not make it ok. Mr. President promised everyone "change" this is not change this is more of dems and repubs taking advantage of the situation. This is business as usual. I say Booooooooooo to this bill, but here is hoping I am wrong and it does what they are saying it will do.

Funny, when Bush was in office he's all you wanted to talk about, now hes gone and you can't stop ??? do you have a crush?

What is the statute of limitations for talking about a president's policies and decisions?

The man. The myth. The legend.

Since some were bringing up FDR and the New Deal earlier in the thread, I'd say it was at least 70 years.

I can't wait for the debate on Washington's handling of British impressments.

I don't know, let me know when we can start talking about our current Presidents claims of change, tax dodging, no lobbyists, claims that he will answer questions on those items and has yet to have a open press conference about them.

Well it has been a whole three weeks. How dare he not answer every single negative thing anyone has said about him by now! There's hardly anything else for him to be doing at the moment.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

While I hoped for better I think one could easily argue that Obama has already demonstrated more patience, and the willingness to work with, the minority party than Bush ever did.

Uhh, what? Kunstler? Yea, now that Bush is out office I should stop liking him.

exactly...these people have no clue what they are talking about...pork is just a really cool word to throw out there...it sounds neat and its all the rage right now...talking point extrodinairre...

just because the senate (btw both dems and pubs) cuts shtein out of a bill doesnt mean its pork...dems might cut some shtein out that they dont agree with and pubs likewise...for example the birth control money that was cut out was 100% not pork...its just something that freaks out bible thumping zealouts on the right which constitutes their base thus it was unacceptable to them...but it wast pork

You make my point this has been going on for a long time and Mr. President promised change, this is not change, fargin almost 600billion of it won't be spent right away, so why do we need such a fargin huge bill so quickly. You can call names all you want, but stuff like this baffles me:

QuoteWe need help now - not in 2010 (when $356 billion will be spent), not in 2011 and after (when $293 billion will be spent). If more than 60 percent of the spending comes well over a year from now, that's not stimulating - that's just teasing us.quote]
