Since we're mindlessly discussing the middle east, I really like Obama's approach here.

Obama tells Arabic network US is 'not your enemy

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090127/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_obama_mideast

...and it is working for now...

QuoteObama also said that recent statements and messages issued by the al-Qaida terror network suggest they do not know how to deal with his new approach.

"They seem nervous," he told the interviewer. "What that tells me is that their ideas are bankrupt."

He's taking away their recruiting points and they don't know what to do about it.

how about an american president giving an interview to a middle eastern television station and talking about how hes has muslim family members and has lived in muslim countries and not one mention of war on terror or islamo facism...

it was just just incredibly surreal watching that interview last night...it was like i could breath again

No dude. If you side with Israel you hate black people.

not everyone just most...the average middle american could care less about isreal or palenstine and dont know a god damn thing about it...all they see is a bunch of crazy colored savages attacking whitey and they go nuts...one of the exceptions to the rule is of course jews who have a large dog in the fight

stalolololker admitted to being a xenophobe like it was a badge of honor...this is the kind of people we have to deal with in america

We need more xenophobes and less douche bags like you.

By claiming "they have fighting for 1000s of years and will continue to so" your just brushing aside the whole issue, the current conflicts roots and causes, and any possible solution.

I don't claim that, it's a fact. Israelies have fought for land for centuries. And really, I don't give a flying farg what the issues are, even though you bunch of asshats want to argue over bullshtein going on at the otherside of the farging world that you can do nothing about when our own people are who we should be worrying about. To hell with the worlds police bullshtein. I've said before the United Sates should leave Israel to it's own fate. Whatever the issues are, it's more about religion and land than anything, as it has always been no matter what is said.

QuoteFor thousands of years they've been fighting

Bullcrap. Where are your facts? You mean fighting any more than has the rest of the world? I hope you don't mean the crusades because of course that was started by Christians. Just because you like to repeat this nonsense doesn't make it true. This was the favorite tactic of the Bush administration by the way.

I'll assume this is directed at me even though you seem to be too goddamn stupid to know how to use the quote button, so.......

QuoteBetween the time of the Israelite kingdoms and the 7th-century Muslim conquests, the Land of Israel fell under Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Sassanian, and Byzantine rule. Jewish presence in the region dwindled after the failure of the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 CE and the resultant large-scale expulsion of Jews. In 628/9, the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius conducted a massacre and expulsion of the Jews, at which point the Jewish population probably reached its lowest point. Nevertheless, a continuous Jewish presence in the Land of Israel remained. Although the main Jewish population shifted from the Judea region to the Galilee, the Mishnah and part of the Talmud, among Judaism's most important religious texts, were composed in Israel during this period. The Land of Israel was captured from the Byzantine Empire around 636 CE during the initial Muslim conquests. Control of the region transferred between the Umayyads, Abbasids, and Crusaders over the next six centuries, before falling in the hands of the Mamluk Sultanate, in 1260. In 1516, the Land of Israel became a part of the Ottoman Empire, which ruled the region until the 20th century.

Theres your proof you stupid dumbass taterskins farghead, or have you never in all your 12 years ever read a history book? No matter what the issues, or reasons, or how they change, they will go on fighting for what they believe to be their land and religious beliefs because they will be opposed for just those two things, just as they have done for thousands of years. And that is why the U.S. should stay the farg outta' it.

QuoteMain articles:
Arab countries over the years refused to regard Israel as having a right to exist, and Arab nationalists led by Nasser called for the destruction of the state. In 1967, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan massed troops close to Israeli borders, expelled UN peacekeepers and blocked Israel's access to the Red Sea. Israel saw these actions as a casus belli for a pre-emptive strike that launched the Six-Day War, Israel achieved a decisive victory in which it captured the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights. The 1949 Green Line became the administrative boundary between Israel and the occupied territories. Jerusalem's boundaries were enlarged, incorporating East Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Law, passed in 1980, reaffirmed this measure and reignited international controversy over the status of Jerusalem.

Not really true. I am not a racist. I would somewhat agree to being called a xenophobe. My reasons for wanting the Arab nations to bomb each other into the stone age are based in that xenophobia, I want us to be able to take their oil. Now when it comes to a non-oil rich area like Israel my belief here is my belief in self-determination (where it best suits American pursuits) and we should not be shy about backing our ally here. I really believe that the enemy of my enemy is my friend applies here. Israel is a democratic society that is not only friendly to us but also somewhat dependent on us. The Palestinians hate us, are ruled by a terrorist group and most importantly; accept aid from Iran.

Ill ask you this then...why is the US allies with Israel? If its about self interest, like with the Arab nations and their oils, what possible interest does the US have or should have? Why is Israel dependent on us? Being democratic has nothing to do with it. Hamas was elected...they are not allies. Egypt, Jordan, and Saudia Arabia all have dictators/kings...and they are allies. So democracy has nothing to do with it.

And also why do the Palestinians hate the US? What is wrong with accepting aid from Iran, when the majority fo the world allowed Israel to put up a economic blockade on the Palestinians? Is it proven they accept aid from Iran? Or are you thinking of Lebanon? Just cause they are all brown does it mean they are the same groups, countries, or even the same religious sect.

I dont know why I'm even bothering.

QuoteThats right...totally ignore the fact that they were offered their own state in 1948.

Yes, let's totally ignore the fact that Palestinians were given a plateful of shtein and refused to eat it. Let's pretend it was a swell deal which did not include having to surrender their lands to foriegners.

So for 1400 years (or for 800 at the very least) the people of this land basically lived peacefully together. Sure, it formally changed hands between various empires but there were no massacres, no forced exodus, no apartheid, etc., etc. Thanks for illustrating my point and refuting yours.

Conquering nations of antiquity was never a "nice" little thing to do. Really read that link. Jews have been relocating to Israel from Europe since the Spanish inquisition in the 12Th century. Modern era settlements began in the 1800's.

Understand the details at least so you can back your position with some sort of intelligent thought.

Also some Israeli's are brown skinned and some Muslims are white skinned. This has nothing to do with the color of someones skin and more to do with what someone claims to believe in. Malcome X's eyes were opened when he saw all the different racial charenteristics at mecca and he was ultimatly killed for it.

For fargs sake, there was no Palestinian State in 1948!!  They were offered one, but decided, along with their purported "allies" to fight the Jews instead.  Face it, the Palestinians are nothing but pawns in the Islamic world to fight the Jews.
