QuoteObama is going to miss the next few days of campaigning to be with his ailing grandmother in Hawaii.

How long will it take for Rush Limp-dick to claim it's for political purposes?

Biden, wrong or not is debatable, verbalized what many people think.

I had that discussion with a guy at work on Friday. He said that if Obama is elected then someone will/will try to go JFK on him and that will cause riots that will make the LA/Watts/Chicago riots look like childs play.

I maintain that the Secret Service will be so tight that no one will be able to get close enough.

And furthermore, that when he visits countries overseas (sans America hated hot spots) that he will be loved and greeted with great admiration.

I spoke to a customer of mine who vacationed in Greece for three weeks and he said that they are following the election there closer than some people who live in this country and are hoping that the R's are outta office soon.

Same sentiment in South America.

Re:  Biden:  To me, much ado about nothing.  Of COURSE Obama will be severely tested early in his presidency.  That's part of the job description.  McCain would be severely tested, too.  Hopefully whoever wins comes up with something better than the Bay of Pigs (acknowledging that started at the end of the Eisenhower administration, but Kennedy gave it the final clearance).

Biden isn't saying anything that anyone with a half a brain realizes.

Enemies of America are probably licking their chops right now....we're vulnerable economicly, and we're about to have a new, slightly "green" president. The difference between him and the Right is he isn't saying Obama is gonna totally farg it up because he's an islamic terrorist.
He's saying OBama is going to be tested and obviously he thinks he will pass the test.

Nothing Biden said there is going to matter, because the people who are idiots enough to be scared by all that crap have already BEEN scared over to the McCain side by their campaign.

so wait...first youre saying that everything biden is saying is true...then youre saying its all crap and the people who believe this crap have already decided to vote for mccain

if what biden is saying is true as you say then there are tons of independants and undecideds who like obama but are scared by his inexperience and its something exactly like this that could scare them off

and if youre saying what biden says is all crap then hes even more of an idiot than i thought for saying it

which is it?

I was saying that what Biden said is already on everyone's mind. I think the majority of the intelligent sector of this country knows that the US is probably at it's weakest state in a long time. And post-election, whoever the winner is, is probably going to face some great challenges early on.

The difference between what Biden said as opposed to the GOP commericals and rallies, is that Biden isn't standing up there saying it's a test OBama is likely to fail. Or that he's an arabic islamic extremist terrorist. And the only people that would be scared of the 'well, duh' comments that Biden made are the idiots that have already bought into the fear/hate mongering of the McCain campaign.

In other words, anyone with a brain isn't going to think twice about those comments.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I really don't think it's a big deal.

maybe maybe not...time will tell how hard it blows up...either way it was a completely irresponsible thing to say...put a muzzle on this guy till after the election

I don't get it. Finnally, a politician who says what he feels and what also is the truth, and you want to put a muzzle on him.

I like Biden for the reasons you want him to shut up. Everytime he speaks, I like him more. I especially like his reaction to Palin and her small town patriotic crap.

His latest comments are just what most Americans are thinking. I feel like he's reassuring America as to what Obama's reaction might be.

I agree that this is clearly a state's rights issue, but the problem comes when travelling or relocating - does the state you are in recognize your status?
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

ice grillin you

its not a states issue...all people should be able to get married and all those that do should have the same rights protected by the federal govt...i agree with geo that each individual church should be allowed to determine whether they wanna marry gay couples but in general all gay couples should be allowed to marry and after they do they should have the same rights as anyone else
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Marriage is a religious institution. The government shouldn't have a goddamn thing to say about it. In terms of rights afforded to couples, however, what applies to straight couples should obviously apply to gay couples as well. Again, not rocket science.

That'll be nice of your brother to pester the man while he's visiting his sick grandmother.

the question of gay marriage is as simple as they come.  it's a straight up civil rights issue.

the State grants considerable privelages and rights to two people who enter into legal contract with one another as domestic partners...provided the partnership is composed of a male and a female.

two men or two women are disallowed these rights and privelages by the State solely because the genders of the parties

the state cannot possibly continue to maintain this system in the modern age.  either abolish state sanctioned rights and privelages of being married, or extend them fully to any two people who wish to marry (and are not already married, etc.)

regarding Churches...for the first thing, farg 'em.  Stupid superstitious god worshiping sons of bitches.  Second...being the morons they are, most of 'em seem to think this would mean they'd ahve to perform gay marriages in Jesus' or Allah's name.   Which is ludicrous.

It's a semantic issue.  Gay couples should be afforded every right the same as straight couples, period.  But it sure seems to me the sticking point is calling it "marriage".  Call it something else if you don't like "civil union", but sticking it in the craw of someone who doesn't approve is not going to get you what you want.  It's just a pissing match.

Oh, and anyone who votes in this election because of their stand on abortion or gay marriage should be lit on fire.  Those were bullshtein issues 8 years ago, and shouldn't even be on the radar right now.
Anyone but Reid.
