QuoteWill taterskin rule reign again?

Herald News Services

- NFL - A handful of critical National Football League games loom this weekend, but none figure to have the impact of Monday's Pittsburgh at Washington matchup thanks to the "taterskins Rule'' of U.S. politics.

For 17 consecutive U.S. presidential ballots, the outcome of the taterskins' last home game before election day has been an accurate predictor, some even fancifully claim the true decider, of who will win the White House.

If the taterskins win, the incumbent party in the White House wins the subsequent presidential election. Should the taterskins lose, the party holding the U.S. presidency loses

yet nother reason to root against the racists

Funny little thing, for Obama's election celebration/party tomorrow night you need to produce a valid drivers license along with your ticket to get in, but you do not need a driver license to vote out here in the great state of Illinois. :-D

You don't need ID here either.  Just name and address.  Really great system!

working through actual differences in opinion to work toward passing legislation that is agreed upon by more than 51% of the Congress/country.

Sorry, I'd call this a compromise.  Unlike some, I don't consider "compromise" a dirty word.  I just don't agree with Obama's decisions on these issues.

Um, that's exactly what I said, chief.  That's the type of compromise that we haven't seen from Obama and are extremely unlikely to see with him as President.  What we have seen are just a couple of issues that he happens to disagree with his party line on... NOT compromise.

When Obama gets in, we will not see offshore drilling.

rjs246

Who farging cares. Offshore drilling is a stopgap measure at best. Drill, don't drill, by the time they actually tap into anything it may not even be an effective stopgap.

This conversation is pointless anyway because if Obama is president he won't have to compromise. Who's he going to compromise with? The minorty party who just got their asses handed to them on a platter by the voting public? All he has to do is use common sense in his executive decisions, preside intelligently over the inevitable economic turnaround and not go overboard with the left wing nutjobbery and he'll be hailed as a great president. I don't know that I have faith in him to do all of that, but it shouldn't be that difficult for him to come out of this smelling like roses.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

I was responding to Cervant's claim of Obama compromising, geesh settle down.

Um, no.  Obama was firmly opposed to offshore drilling and telecom immunity.  He conceded those points to get the bills passed.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

PoopyfaceMcGee

So, he "compromised" on offshore drilling at a time when it was hugely politically expedient for him, and he "compromised" on FISA, which freedom-loving people hate anyway.

Let's at least have some fun with this...

Call the final electoral vote count.  This map should get you started.

I have Obama at 311 and McCain at 227, and that is assuming a lot goes right (double-meaning!) for McCain.

SD_Eagle5

I didn't bother doing the map but for my Business Law class I put Obama 302 McCain 236 for an extra credit project...so I'll stick with that.

Phanatic

Playing with that map it all comes down to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. There are other states that are toss ups but they don't really have the electoral votes to matter.
This post is brought to you by Alcohol!

PoopyfaceMcGee

McCain has precisely zero chance of winning Pennsylvania.

Don't you live in Missouri?  That's another must-have for McCain.

ice grillin you

who the hell would want to compromise with the right wing on anything outside of budget issues...their stance on just about every single important issue is so ass backwards that to compromise with them would be to associate with the devil

if barry wins i hope he tells all the right wing loonies to go farg themselves
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Funny.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.
