For everyone who thinks the Republican ticket has some moral high-ground in this election, I encourage you to read this...

Let me get this straight because I could be a little confused:

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by a single mother and by your grandparents, you're "exotic" and "different.

"
If you grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers and hunt wolves from an airplane, then you are the quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack , you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

Name your kids, Willow, Trig and Track, you're an All- American gal.

If you graduate from Harvard Law School, you are detached and out of touch.

If you attend 5 different colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

If you spend 3 years being paid next to nothing as director of an organization of churches and community organizer after graduating from Columbia University as a scholarship student, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, organize a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor at the University of Chicago, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become Chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while co-sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs Committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

If your total resume is: local weather girl and sports announcer, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, never had a passport until 2007 and then traveled to Kuwait for a National Guard ceremony, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive and next in line to the Presidency behind a cancer survivor who is 72 years old and would be the oldest elected President in US history.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 healthy daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

If you cheated on your first wife numerous times while serving as a military liaison to the US Senate and gained a reputation as a womanizer in Washington, then had an affair with a rich heiress whom you met on the beach in Hawaii, later leaving your disfigured wife to marry the heiress, you're a true Christian and a hero.

If you advocate responsible, age appropriate sex education in public schools, including the proper use of birth control, you are outrageous and irresponsibly eroding the fiber of society, particularly if you vote for a sex education bill in Illinois which, among other things, would help young kids in kindergarten learn what to do if approached by a sexual predator.

If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education allowed to be taught in your state's school system, and your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible and an exemplar of family values, particularly when you make it clear to your daughter that there is no option other than to take the baby to term.

If your wife is a Harvard law graduate who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that prestigious job to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America 's.

If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude," with at least one known DWI conviction and no college education, but sits in on some of her state meetings in Juneau, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, you're a member of an All-American family with All- American values to which most of us in America can relate.

OK, I'm much clearer now.
"Oh, yeah. They'll still boo. They have to. They're born to boo. Just now, they'll only boo with two Os instead of like four." - Larry Andersen

I am sure that is all unbiased truth.

I am not going to read it, I am just going to make an assumption.

You know, am leaning towards voting for Obama/Biden (although I am not the biggest Biden fan, but the VP is like the cowboys head coach, they get paid to stand there and look official, while then never really make any important decisions).

The one thing that keeps me thinking I should vote McCain/Palin is that I hate liberal political blogs and liberal political activists with a passion, and nothing would make me happier than to see them try and make excuses as to why the lost.

CF is a de facto liberal political blog yet you seem to post here quite frequently.

Interesting.

It's not all that interesting at all, actually.

Voting in this election is a lot like watching a Cowboys/taterskins game.  I might write in, "INJURIES."

EDIT: You know what? That would actually be farging awesome. Especially the scenario where congress can't effectively decide on the President and the whole thing takes years to iron out. It would force a massive overhaul of the political process and maybe this assinine two party 'democracy' that doesn't effectively represent the middle-ground will of the people will be scrapped.

You're assuming that the same people who can't even be bothered to find out if Obama is a US citizen, the people who vote more often for American Idol than government elections, and the people who follow their political party no matter what, are going to care whether or not the Antichrist is selecting the new Commander In Chief?

What farging world do you live in?

I live in a world where people like consistency, which is why they do all of the things you listed above. If the country doesn't have a president for 2 years due to legal wranglings (as suggested in the article) I guarantee you the total sense of apathy in this country will dissipate.

They like consistency, but they also like blaming the other guys. Either of these two parties can keep people arguing about irrelevant things for years.

Or, even better, Bush will get to stay in office a little longer. Just until things are sorted out. Then, until the war is over. Then we'll find out that the Democrats tried to have him assassinated, which left him horribly disfigured, so he uses the clone soldiers to hunt them down and declares himself Emperor.

So what you two are saying is that nothing that could happen would ever shake people's apathy and inspire them to care enough to make a change?

There's no way to argue with that viewpoint, because it's based on nothing resembling evidence. I'd like to believe that a total failure of the current system would lead to changes.

Biased, perhaps, but it was all true. Look into it.
