The Republican convention getting preempted and scaled back due to the hurricanes on the Gulf Coast is really the nail in the coffin for any chance of being competitive in this race in November.

I actually fear that not having Dick and Bush attending in person helps their cause. This AP article points out how unusual it is; That conventions have never been preempted by current events...
