Obama's speech was VERY good. Tax cuts for 95% of Americans.  :deion

Wait until you see how his tax cuts work :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D  The bulk of the tax cuts go to people who don't pay taxes :-D :-D :-D :-D

Let's compare:

Population: Alaska - 683,478, Philadelphia - 1,449,634, Chicago - 2,833,321
Local GDP: Alaska - $39.9 billion, Philadelphia - $312 billion, Chicago - $442 billion
US Congress Reps: Alaska - 3, Philadelphia 4 +, Chicago - 6+
State Reps: Alaska - 40, Philadelphia - 26, Chicago - 31

Alaska is a meaningless hole in the middle of nowhere.  As a "hockey mom" married to a professional snowmobile racer, she has a better claim to Canadian citizenship than I do.

Alaska would only be the 17th largest city in the US.

[edit: added Chicago stats, since they are more relevant to this converstation]

Other than Michelle Obama who would you have prefered...oh wait...Kucinach ???  Benign pick IMO ::)

I was wondering if Hillary might opt to stay out of this, but then...
QuoteOnce onstage, together with Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Palin talked about what women expect from women leaders; how she took charge in Alaska during a political scandal that threatened to unseat the state's entire Republican power structure, and her feelings about Sen. Hillary Clinton. (She said she felt kind of bad she couldn't support a woman, but she didn't like Clinton's "whining.")

Get you popcorn ready...

I already said, Carly Fiorina would have been a better choice to grab the PUMAs.  That would have been an "Oh shtein" pick for Obama.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Palin should get the Valley Girl vote.

General_Failure

Its just as I feared. You're all as farging stupid as I am when it comes to politics. This country is farged.

The man. The myth. The legend.

PhillyPhreak54

FOX said that this VP broad has foreign policy experience because Russia is next to Alaska. That's funny.

Also; did I read that McCain has only met her one time?

Diomedes

Yeah but that one time, it was something.

But seriously, I've heard they do not have illegitimate children.

A few interesting facts -

1) Sarah Palin came in second place at an Alaskan beauty pageant. McCain's current wife was a junior rodeo queen. McCain's first wife, Carol (whom he cheated on in 1976), was a model.

2) You will not find any verified photographs of Carol McCain taken within the past thirty years on the internet.

The more I think about this, the more terrified I become, quite honestly.

I really do believe that Obama/Biden wins, but then I think that this is the party that re-elected Bush & Cheney even after they knew what they were, even after lies and the war and the disaster that is the war in Iraq. This is the party that loves seeing hot women holding guns, and likes people who make the same grammatical errors that they do, and votes for people they would most like to have a beer with. This is the party that lacks any semblance of perspective on who America is in the world - who we used to be, who we are now, and who we should be again.

I've read a ton about her since yesterday and I can admit that the things she's done in office in Alaska have been decent, but she's 1.5 years into her term as a new Governor of one of the most corrupt states in the nation - it was like shooting fish in a barrel to make reforms there! Are you kidding me?

I am just astounded that all of the right wing who has kept us all so scared on the foreign policy front for 7 years is defending this choice. Its literally insane. How could they possibly trust her to lead the troops they blather so much about supporting??

This whole thing really depresses me.
