cant overstate how badly maine was blown. this is a state biden won easily, collins voted for farging date rape kavanaugh. they have ranked choice. she cleared 50% without it. it wasnt even close.

manchin has a different calculus than the other D senators. hes quite literally the last standing southern dem and in a state whose residents would vote overwhelmingly for david duke for president. this kind of grandstanding helps him. the one thing hes doing is preventing mitch from getting the gavel.

And yeah the Dems blowing it in NC and Maine especially was egregious. But I'm not convinced that 52 senate seats gets it done either. Manchin is just protecting the Chris Coons and Tom Carpers and Needs-To-Retire Diane Feinstein's of the world from the heat.

because with exception of a handful of them Democrats are also all white supremacists...the republicans had like 40 Benghazi hearings and for the most part the Democrats are done with a literal coup attempt that happened 15 minutes ago

A GOP county chair just won a race for mayor of McAllen, Texas, a city that's 85% Latino. Hillary won the county by 40 points.

If the Democratic Party doesn't get serious about Latino outreach, we're in big trouble.

im not in mcallen anymore, obviously, but you cannot overstate to the level of political apathy there is down there. quite simply nobody gives a royal shtein.

so in a runoff special for a worthless local office that no dem really campaigns for, things like this can happen. its not unprecedented and not an indictment of anything.

but yes abortion and hatred of negros are winning messages, welcome to america. i watched this really good doc called boys state where all teenage boys set up a mock system of govt (in texas) and every single one of them had a platform that included being pro life. we are farged.

Dems also just had a special election win in NM where the candidate outran Biden just 7 months ago. That Fort Worth race is apparently non-partisan on the ticket and got something like 9% turnout or something crazy low like that.
