Memorial Day is a tough day in my house but even more so today  Lost my dad thanks to the horrifyingly awful mistreatment he and thousands of other soldiers endured in the Army Corps of Engineers.  He was one of the soldiers who built and then inspected the "towns" that were incinerated by nuclear weapons in the 1950's. He died from his exposure to radiation, so when someone mentions those who gave their lives for their country, they're referring to him and them. 

They were casualties in a war that was never actually fought.  Well, yet anyway.

So it's particularly galling to me when someone says I can't say, "Happy Memorial Day" because as the son of someone who gave his life for his country, I'm pretty sure I can say whatever I'd like.  And I am happy.  I'm happy he was a good man, a good husband, a hard worker and a great dad whose love for me is something I still cherish today, 48 years to the day after his death at 43 freaking years of age.

Anyway, tough day for me because I still miss him.  Love you, Pops.

I've been eating less and less beef as the years go buy.  I never buy it at the store, outside of hot dogs or kielbasa.  And I don't eat out often, and when I do, I often don't order it. 

It's a really stupid program.  The amount of food we have to grow and feed to food...it's outrageous how much water and land and gas it takes to get beef.  Nevermind the methane they produce.  It's a crazy indulgent thing.  I'm good with people having to pay a lot more for it.
