I work a few blocks from that crane, it's where the WaPo offices used to be but the whole building has been torn down.  Was pretty cool walking outside and seeing that yesterday morning.

In fact I'm getting a lot of semi good feelings from the disgusting pivot our country just took.

The racist mouth breathers who voted this guy in will undoubtedly go back into their holes and do nothing to benefit society like they have done their whole lives before 6 months ago. While good and decent people who care about others, yet did nothing about it their whole lives (myself included) get the push they need to donate, volunteer, just generally try to make a difference.

I've seen it in myself and the majority of my circle of friends and i'm taking it as a silver lining that things and people in general are still mostly good.

i saw some zealouts (my step family's side is very religious) claim trump was choosen by the hand of god. for the hell of it i ask where they got their information and i got lectured on having faith as the bible teaches us. then i point out revelations and i was told i take the bible too literal.

this is a great point...ive been balls deep in the game since i was a kid because of my crazy hippie liberal family (including my grandparents who were born in the 20's) and was always the outcast with my friends especially when i was younger when most people dont care about politics or really anything but themselves but the amount of young people at the march on saturday and not just young people but young people who were doing something like that for the first time was amazing to see....ive been to a lot of those things and have never seen anything like saturday...in particular the 2003 marches against the war which were huge as well...it skewed way older and most of the young people there were revolutionary anarchist types versus the everyday people at the womens march who you could tell were new to all this

whats fed this beast imo is the lgbt movement.....people generally still dont give a rats ass about black or brown people but that is even changing because you can segregate small towns from big cities and blacks from whites and browns from blacks via schools neighborhoods and what have you but skin color doesnt prevent you from being gay or trans and since the social changes in the country have allowed the lgbt community to feel more comfortable about coming out you have large parts of the country getting to know these people and seeing the discrimination that they face first hand...and once that happens even tho say they have never had a black friend they can now at least recognize and understand that they face the same type shtein....on saturday i saw just normal young white women...not organizers or maniac progressives just regular girls chanting black lives matter....words cant express how good that made me feel

it goes the other way as well...for the same reasons its absolutely astounding how far the attitudes towards lgbt acceptance in the black community have come
