I've had a change of heart in a fundamental way.

I wasn't kiddding about the Maoist shtein the other day.  Fundamentally, every society is based on violence.  If you don't have people who will go kill for you, then you are cooked on this earth.  I have come to think of these people as more basically honorable than not, and to admire them in a way I never used to.

It's cute to talk about how awful war is and all but we litterally don't have this life without war.  Our self evident truths were only established by surviving the test of war.   Similarly the fall of slavery.
