That and they're lesbians, which is a bigger problem for the parents than the age. Not that the age difference isn't a problem for the parents. One of my sisters dated an 18 year old guy when she was 14, and boy did that ever cause problems in my family.

Any of youse guys following this story?  The dirty truth will come out in court and my initial gut feeling is that this girl should get locked up.  If she was a dude, this would barely register as a story.

I assume Sarge means just by the letter of the law, not that he actually agrees with it. But either way it's a tricky situation....they're both high schoolers and it's a mutual relationship, but you are talking about a very big 4 year age difference in terms of maturity.


In other news, not surprisingly, the GOP is trying it's hardest to make sure ObamaCare sucks as much as possible. Though the states that are actually trying hard to implement it right are already seeing positive signs. The price for premiums for a "silver plan" in California are much lower than what was predicted when the law was passed, as the competition has forced insurance companies to lower their prices.

From what I'm reading so far, and the interviews I've seen (specifically with the younger girl's parents), yeah.....that's the direction I'm leaning right now.  But I'm also seeing a lot of conflicting reports as to the age of the girls when they started munching each other's boxes.  So who knows exactly what to believe right now.  That's the key to the entire thing, imo.  Did they have sex after Kaitlyn turned 18?  If so, then she goes to jail.   

The thing that makes this story interesting/attention grabbing is the homophobic spin on it.  Did the parents only alert the authorities because they think their daughter caught the gay?  I didn't get that vibe from them during their interview and I really don't think it's relevant.  They could be the biggest homophobes in the world, but an 18yr old finger banging a 14yr old is a big no-no.  So any bigotry the parents might have towards gays doesn't supersede the fact that a crime has (allegedly) taken place.

I actually agree with what he's saying to, but you do have to draw a line somewhere.  Some 18 year olds aren't anywhere close to being mature enough to have absolute control over their lives.  Others are ready for that responsibility at a younger age.  Of course, where that line should be is irrelevant to this particular issue.

There's grey area with just about everything.  Do I think that this girl is a sexual predator?  Eh, probably not.  But I definitely think she should get a lot more than just a slap on the wrist. 

You're 18.  Find someone closer to your own age to make scissors with. 

But the offense and potential punishment is secondary to the social spin that's been put on this thing.  The ACLU is involved, as are a bunch of other Gay & Lesbian groups.  This is the part of the story that's really interesting to me because I don't think they really have any business being involved in the 1st place.  And I love me some ACLU but I think they're overstepping their bounds a bit.

I didn't.  But I also graduated HS before I turned 18 and left for bootcamp almost immediately after graduation, so it's not like I was trolling around local high schools looking for some strange.

I think that depends on what the age of consent was at the time.  Most states have it set at 16.

1.  Good luck with that "agreement."  1st person she sees who she's attracted to and that agreement is out the window.  I suspect the pact will be broken by Xmas.
