QuoteIn parts of the country where conservative values dominate, charity tends to be high. Where liberalism holds sway, charity falls. "Red states are more generous than blue states," the Chronicle concludes. The eight states that ranked the highest in charitable giving all voted for John McCain in 2008. The seven lowest-ranking states supported Barack Obama.

I'm confused... IGY told me that liberals care ever so much about the poor.  I guess Joe Biden falls in line with other liberals when giving 370 dollars to charity per year.

I give very little money to charity. For the most part, I think it's wasteful because there is little oversight on what happens to the money I give. Rather than donating $20 to the homeless, I'd rather give a couple hours in a soup kitchen or something.

There's plenty of sites/organizations that evaluate a charity, how effective it is, and how much money actually goes directly to the cause.  I'd much rather my money go through a reputable charity, than through a government which will most likely spending it on pork barrell projects.

Middle class gives more of their income to charity than the wealthy.

Judging from the study I posted, it must be middle class conservatives.  Que igy stating that he gives 15 percent of salary to charity, and volunteers every weekend.  I mean he calls anyone that doesn't think like him politically selfish and horrible people.

Yes, but he does that over any subject. Your stiffy for IGY is funny though, keep it up.

I thought this was a no pun thread?

Also - Mittens is at it again.  He just tossed another birth certificate hand grenade at Barry.

I wonder if we'll get to revisit Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers, that was so much fun.

Hawk

Won't someone please think of Mitt Romney's taxes?

It's because they're donating to their churches. Conservatives tend to be more religious. it's no surprise.

What should be surprising, and what's more important to take away from the story, is that the middle class is donating a larger percentage of their income than those with tons of money.
