yeah but at least if he despises the commerce clause, he despises it equally, whether it benefits a traditional conservative or liberal position (see stances on HC and weed with commerce clause). 

scalia abandoned his 'principles' just to stay on the republican side of things (said the commerce clause could regulate weed since weed traffic is big enough aggregated across the economy), but is now opposing HC reform, when, if you read his Raich opinion, he should absolutely be on the other side. 

so i don't like what Thomas stands for normally, but at least it doesn't change like the wind like some of the other people on the SCOTUS.

Agreed completely.  In my example Thomas was on the side you probably would've been on in Raich whereas Scalia just votes chalk Republican whenever he can.  My point was Thomas stands, generally, for states rights and limited central govt no matter the topic/talking point, whereas Scalia will be fine with big govt if it supports Repub positions.

I do think the HC bill is probably going to be overturned but I'm hoping to be surprised.
