I never said Iraq and 9/11 are related... not sure where that is from.

Agreed, but who could have foresaw what would happen.... after all, the enemy of my enemy is friend.
But, with the geography, and tribal nature of Afghanistan, it could be argued that a long term occupation would never have been successful.

i do agree with this.  along with the fact that the kurds, sunni and shi'ites wouldn't make moves on each other because they were all scared shteinless of sadaam.  the world is a better place without him, but the region was much more stable with him.  of course, i'll take unstable and free over stable and confined every day of the week.
