Belgium-based AB InBev, already the world's largest brewer, makes Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois and Beck's. SABMiller, based in London, has Miller Genuine Draft, Peroni and Milwaukee's Best among its 200 or so brands.

i mean i would drink any one of these if someone had it sitting in a cooler but as long as Miller Lite is not affected I am cool.

hmm so I guess I am wrong but I always thought Miller Lite was part of MillerCoors which is different than SABMiller or whatever. I'm going to lose it if Miller Lite changes.

In order to get the merger past the the U.S. Department of Justice, the firms could be forced to sell some of their assets in the country, including SABMiller's stake in the MillerCoors joint venture.

Regulators similarly compelled AB InBev to shed some of its ventures following its bid for Grupo Modelo in 2013. Before that deal could be approved, Modelo's U.S. assets -- including Corona -- were sold to a smaller rival.

As younger drinkers turn in ever greater numbers to independent breweries, the global market leaders have been trying to defend their market share.

AB InBev has swallowed Seattle's Elysian Brewing, Oregon's 10 Barrel Brewing and Chicago-based Goose Island in the last year or two.

it's 6 years old now, but the documentary "Beerwars" was fascinating detailing the same merger craze happened back in the 50's 60's and how it ultimately nearly destroyed the palates of beer drinkers across the country.

2016, changes recipe for first time in 256 years

My goodness, my Guinness! The famed Irish brewmaker announced a change to the ol' recipe that will please vegetarian and vegan drinkers: It's eliminating the fish bladders. Yikes, well maybe you didn't know it, but isinglass, a gelatin made from fish bladders, has been used to filter yeast particles from the deep-brown brew for the last 256 years. Most Anheuser-Busch, Heineken and Miller products have been deemed vegetarian-friendly by Barnivore.com, which tracks animal ingredients in alcohol, reports CNN.
