i have 5 or 6 big mason jars of vodka in my fridge steeped with fruit. strawberry, pear, orange, kiwi and some other shtein. just straight fruit and vodka, nothing else.

man that limonchello looks good. the recipie i got is from my kid's boss. had some of the stuff a few weeks ago. was really good and not too sweet.

have to look into the brewing kit. gonna have room to do things like this when i finish the shed im putting in the yard.

just got busy at Costco...

Is that Woodford Reserve their double oak? If so it's a nice bottle. I went to a big whiskey tasting recently and you got a $50 voucher to use toward whatever you wanted that they served. Out of the 40-50 whiskies I tried I took this bottle. It wasn't the best one there but I liked it more than anything else near that price.

I was visiting my dad a couple of weeks ago and he broke open some home made limoncello and it was too syrupy. I'm not big on it anyway but what helped a lot was to just add a little fresh lemon juice to it.

Costco's branded scotch from the big producers are a good buy, but some people go nuts thinking they will be getting the exact same juice as the brand. For example, Costco's 18yr from Macallan is well worth the $40 or whatever but it isn't nearly as good as The Macallan's 18yr that goes for $170. They sell off the stock that doesn't meet their quality standard or the necessary flavor profile, and Kirkland rebrands it. I don't know that's always the case though. Apparently their 7yr small batch bourbon for around $25/liter is the same as Baker's Bourbon which goe for around $55/750ml. Their mash bill and batch numbers filed with the TTB (govt. agency) look like the same lot.

no it isn't the double oak....its their select...like where they put the batch and bottle number on the bottle

the limoncello was too syrupy cause im sure he followed the classic limoncello recipe....and just like I was saying to smeags it comes out way too sweet ie "syrupy" if you put in the amount of simple syrup it calls for

Costco is just ridiculous with their prices on most stuff...this weekend i was out of liquor so i had to slum it at my local place....i got a fifth of jose cuervo for 20 bucks....at Costco i get a liter of their tequila which imo is better for 13 bucks
