the sheldon brown stuff was the only thing in there that was the least bit suprising and i completely disagree with him...sheldon is a good nfl cornerback that does not need to be addressed

i also totally disagree with gocong

eveything else he said is stuff that people have known for a long time

it basically goes back to what ive always said...there isnt a semi intelligent person on this board or anywhere else for that matter than cant be as good or better in talent evaluation as any nfl scout or gm...the only difference is that they have resources we dont....ie films from all the teams the ability to go to private workouts and places like senior bowl practices ect......but when it comes to the eagles the scout in that article doesnt know anything more and probably less than we do

Why?  Patterson probably is strong as "bleep".  The problem is his position isn't weight lifting, it's judo.  His position is about balance and leverage.  Strength can be a great asset, but without the first two it doesn't help much.
Anyone but Reid.

hes stronger than you or me.....but hes not strong for a nfl dt...hes all about quickness....now bunkley is strong...in fact i bet the scout was talking about bunkley when he said that and domo  messed the quote up or the scout was thinking bunkley and said patterson

Something has to change with the corners. It's either Tito or Sheldon.

The man. The myth. The legend.

corners are fine....if youre worried about the corners then you might as well nuke the whole team and start over...they are way down at the bottom of things to change with the eagles

pass coverage is still reliant on QB pressure, and they haven't been getting much of that lately.  improve the backers and dline and the coverage will improve automatically.

Agreed.  Sheldon's a good player.  Like most corners, he can't survive being continually put on an island against good receivers.  If they had two good safeties, it would be a non-issue.

Basically, the team needs to look strongly at the following positions in the following ways:

SS - Need a starter.  Lewis and Considine are both too flawed to start in the NFL.
FS - Need an eventual replacement for the declining Dawkins.  Guy can still play at an NFL level, but he's not the player he was 2+ years ago.
LB - Need a playmaker.  Replacing Dhani would be nice.  Backing up Jeremiah would be nice.  Either way, I'm absolutely sick of the lack of playmaking in the LB corps.
DE - Again.  McDougle blows hard.
DT - Like the article says, a big-bodied guy with just a little talent can go a long way towards plugging the run.

The Bunk will turn into a good player stuff in Domo's article is pretty encouraging, but I disagree with his defensive assessment. Our front 7 is where help is needed, our interior D-line is in desperate need of a guy who can collapse a pocket or at least provide a strong push, and our outside LBs are the worst in the league.

PoopyfaceMcGee

The only players on the defense that deserve a basically-unchallenged starting spot in 2007 are Lito, Dawkins, Patterson, Cole, and Trotter.  And Trotter and Dawkins are declining, Patterson's unspectacular, Lito averages about 9-10 games a year, and Cole is more productive in an off-the-bench pass rushing role.

So, it's kind of silly to split hairs by saying, "No, it's the secondary!" or "No, it's the front seven!"  The defense is seriously flawed across the board.  That said, I have no doubt Andy will use at least two draft picks on offensive linemen.

Eaglez

SS, OLBs, and a run stuffing DT are probably what these D needs the most.

Draft a CB and develop him. I agree Sheldon hasn't played as well as he is capable of, but he still plays all right. He's been burned in coverage and his tackling has been pretty crappy the better half of the season -- he really needs to address that. Lito is very good, but I remember last year where everyone was calling for his head because of his performance against Dallas and his play against Terry Glenn. Lito is up and down, but hopefully he came into his own this year and will play at a consistent level that he demonstrated.

Rod Hood, I think, seriously hurt his marketability this off-season. His play has been extremely poor the past couple of weeks in missing tackles and not playing particularly well in coverage. But mostly his tackling sucks. And, yeah, he is a CB. But in this league a team's corners have to tackle. There is too much open space out there and CB's need to be able to make an open field tackle. Tackling probably seperates the good CB's from the average and poor. Anyone who is left out in 1 on 1 coverage long enough against an NFL quality WR is going to get beat. But tackling and limiting the gains and the big play is what really matters a great deal.

I don't think the DEs need to be addressed as much as a run-stuffing DT and OLBs who can make plays on the outside. When Kearse comes back the Eagles will have a rotation of Cole, Kearse, Howard, and whoever if they lose Juqua Thomas. That's a pretty good rotation. Juqua Thomas would actually be a good fit if they can keep him, but with the emergence of the 3-4 he will probably be a pretty hot commodity that some team would be willing to overpay for.

lol @ rod hood missing one tackle in the colts game and now cant tackle

lol @ an article being posted on the board and all of a sudden sheldon needs to be replaced

IGY defending Sheldon puts PG in a quandry that may lead to her head exploding
