Thanks for the info - I'd like to think I'm in decent shape, but even still, I'm probably in the worst shape of my life. I'm about 195, and starting to feel soft.

So today, start with disc 2 and not part 2 of disc 1?

I actually thought the ab-ripper was for the second workout, so I didnt do it. Guess I'm already slacking..

Disc 1 is an entire workout. Do the whole disc all at once. Ab Ripper is only 15 minutes of no break ab exercises that finishes Discs 1, 3, and 5.

my back has been giving me problems for the past two weeks or so.  its usually stiff or sore after a workout but now it's lingering.  i'm sure that it has something to do with the fact that i've been doing my morning workouts and then either swimming or playing ball in the evenings.

anybody know of good stretches to help alleviate lower back pain?
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I have back problems. Seated (low sitting) stationary bike for 10-15 minutes 3-4 times a week on super-low resistance is how I keep my lower back loose (combined with stretching my hamstrings and glutes).

Upper back is trickier, but the physical therapist I went to had me do the stretches above plus used massage to help. If you don't have an in-house masseuse (peasant) use a tennis ball over the farged up areas, pinning the ball between your back and the wall and rolling it over the bad spots.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Drop to your knees (keep reading this is serious business), rest your ass on your ankles, fold your upper body forward, and stretch your arms out on the floor as far as you can and hold/keep stretching/reaching out. Focus on keeping your ass down and stretching the lower back.

Another great one is to lay flat on your back and bring your knees to your chest and hold, either both at the same time or alternate.

I'm assuming you've been to a chiropractor, next time you go ask the "doctor" what stretches you should do. If you haven't ever been, I recommend making an appointment.

Stretch your hamstrings daily and it will alleviate a lot of your back issues. The two are related. Watch your posture, especially when you're relaxing. Most importantly, don't test your lower back. I was always in the idiotic mindset that I could work through pain, with your lower back that doesn't work, it only makes things much worse.

Two good suggestions by SD and Z.

On your point about the Chiropractor Z.....I've never been...very skeptical...mostly because I feel those guys are going to farg my neck up...do I have any real reason to fear?

yeah, i'm constantly touching my toes throughout the day because it does feel better.

i've thought about the chiropractor route but i was thinking it was muscle soreness and i wasn't sure what a chiro would do for me

Don't fear a chiropractor, unless you think that your body being addicted to being "adjusted" by a "doctor" is a good thing.

Frankly, the type of regimen that rjs talks about is much more healthy. Make sure you keep your trouble spots loose with the correct exercises and stretches, and use the occasional massage to really work out the kinks.

I used to swear by chiropractic but have been much healthier and free from pain and stiffness since switching to other methods. I truly do believe that chiropractic therapy begets more chiropractic therapy, and it is not the best option for most people.
