Good to hear, Jef. How much do you wanna lose?

Thanks for bumping that Mike. I am hunting for a change of pace. I'm back on protein and hydroxycut hardcore. I took three weeks off when we were in vacation over thanksgiving and will be out of country againfor Christmas. I maintained while away but three weeks without any gym killed my momentum obviously. But I needed a break. 6 days a week for 6 months gets old.

I'm off to go hit it right now.

Back to the gym today. 30 minutes of cardio and some light chest. Following the diet plan Russell posted a few months back (slow carb diet). Trying to get back into a routine.

I'm eating a bag of Reese's as we speak. Since my trip to mexico in november my diet has gone to shtein and I've been to the gym all of 4 times. But damn did I look fine while I was getting gringo style drunk on the beach.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Once in a while I feel the need to pop in and tell you iceholes that this is the weakest shtein on earth.   Bunch of goddamn women chatting about nothing.

Awhile back I mentioned the guy who comes into the gym here and take his shoes off to work out barefoot...

He eclipsed that nastiness today.

He comes in with his loads of shtein, kettlebells and mats and protein drinks, and takes up a whole area to himself. He kicks off his shoes and starts working out.

The gym provides washcloths as sweat-towels for the people who don't bring their own towels. This farging pig was hocking loogies and spitting into the towels.

What causes people to be so disgusting? I mean shtein...use common courtesy and manners!

I'll answer your question with a question.

Are you in Texas?

PhillyPhreak54

Yeah but this farm animal is from Colorado...I saw the plates on his car when he pulled up

I haven't lost much more weight but I have toned up quite a bit.  I'm back in my 36 pants to stay.  That's good enough since I'll be dead sooner or later.

I got bored with my apartment gym a few weeks ago and joined a 24hr Fitness. Its been nice having a large variety of equipment and I've been having great workouts. I decided to try one of their classes tonight - it is called Training Camp and the instructor was a camp body with the Texans several years ago. Holy shtein did it kick my ass. I haven't worked out like that since my senior year of HS.

24 hour fitness is great.  There is one about a mile and a half from my house right on the water.  Every piece of equipment you can think of although the one I go to is more cardio oriented.  They installed high def flat screens about a year ago both in the weight training area and the cardio area.  Great to workout and watch a game.  There is some tool who turns one of the TVs on the Military Channel all the time  That's always pleasant watching footage from the Holocaust or the Battle for Okinawa as your doing curls.

I have that unlimited membership so I can use any 24 Hour in the US.  Helps when you travel.  I'm lucky as I travel mainly to Denver and California where there are a ton of 24 Hours.

I started running again even though it absolutely kills my knees, back and hip.  I'm not marathon training or any of that stupid shtein, just getting myself back in shape so that I can do my stupid 3 mile run and then reenlist and move to San Diego.  I haven't run since last summer so naturally, I'm experiencing some muscle pain afterwards.  I'm taking glucose supplements to help with my joint pain and potassium pills because it's easier than eating a banana every day.  My questions:

1.  What type of vitamins/supplements can I take that will improve energy....not only during my workout, but will provide a nice pick me up for the day?  Maybe something like Metabalife but cheaper.

2.  For the last 2 weeks, my diet has almost exclusively consisted of oatmeal and/or yogurt for breakfast, 2 tuna fish sammiches for lunch and then a healthy dinner of either pork, chicken or fish with white rice and veggies.  I've also slimmed down the portions that I eat to help lose weight, but now I'm feeling a bit sluggish as the day goes on.  So what can I add/substitute in my diet that will give me the satisfaction of actually being full without making me work harder to lose weight?

I've been holding steady mostly around 195-200lbs for the better part of the last couple of years, give or take a few lbs in either direction.  But I've decided that I need to get down to around 180 to improve my quality of life.  I figure since I've got knee back and hip problems already, then I can only stand to benefit from dropping a little extra weight and putting less stress on them.

Suggestions?  Go!

There really aren't many across the board supplements that are good for everyone as far as picking up energy levels, and it usually takes someone with some expertise to get to the underlying causes, which are different for different people (could be adrenal, testosterone/estrogen ratio/thyroid/blood sugar metabolism, iron deficiency etc. etc. and what helps one person could be bad for another). I'd stay away from products using caffeine or other stimulants, they can tax the adrenals.

I think Coenzyme Q-10 is a good across the board supp though for energy (maybe 100mg twice a day) unless you happen to be taking blood thinners. It helps with oxygenation and Q10 absorption is best when taken with a little oil. Since many people don't get enough vitamin D unless you get lots of sun, try 2000 units vit D with the Q10. Vit D deficiency is common and affects many things. Q10 is also a good antioxidant. It has also gotten a good bit cheaper in the last couple of years.

To be more filling maybe add more veggies (fiber), especially for lunch, and stay well hydrated. Do you know if you need the potassium? Maybe if you are sweating a whole lot or on a diuretic, but unless you've needed it in the past you probably don't need it now (take with plenty of water and with a meal if you do). If you take potassium with a nsaid (motrin, advil etc) it can be really hard on the stomach and cause problems over time.

Some people get good results from Glucosamine/chondroitin, others not, but probably no harm in using it for a few weeks as you get in shape.

Maybe split some of your cardio with another aerobic exercise that is easier on the knees like swimming, eliptical and such, and put it together near the end of training for the 3 miles.

Alcohol in other than small amounts isn't good for training as you probably know, but I think the American Academy of Cardiovascular Medicine found in several well designed studies that Makers Mark is an exception.

I've found a real hot bath or sauna/steam room if you have access is good for the muscle pain, and if taken at night helps getting good sleep.

If you have knee, back and hip problems already you can google things like anti-inflammatory diets. Diet is huge and some foods can aggravate or help inflammatory/degenerative/arthritic conditions, and is usually a bit different for each person.

If you're working out, you may want to look at percent body fat as well as just dropping weight. If you convert some fat weight to muscle weight you may not need to get your total weight as low.
