I've heard only good things about p90x, but I haven't tried it. If you don't have access to a gym, I think it would be one of the better home options out there, based on what I've read. I know Akers tried it last year and loved it, so there's a chance it could turn you into a mediocre kicker. Be warned.

A mediocre kicker who cries after week-4 victories over non-conference opponents? Pass.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

My diet isn't as strict this time (I drink more diet sodas than the one per week I allowed myself before) but I still follow the 1500-1900 calories per day with one "cheat day" per week.

I will also stray on adding in something like an ice cream cone or candy, but I always fit it into my caloric intake for the day.

I really want to lose this final 30lbs and hit 225...

I basically cut out all forms of bread, rice, pasta etc. My diet revolves around lean meats, veggies, and fruits. I use balsamic vinaggrette in my salads and olive oil as my cooking oil. One of my biggest challenges is I have a 115 lbs. girlfriend who buys and eats tons of junk food. She never eats big portions so that's how she stays so thin. Took a 2 mile walk in the park with my daughter this morning and dropped every 1/4 mile to do some pushups. My tri's are still sore from yesterdays workout so the first few sets were tough.

SD are you working out at any gyms? I just joined Planet Fitness up by Kohl's but haven't been there yet and like it better if I know someone there.

I'm rehabbing from ACL surgery and my left leg looks like it belongs to an 80-yr old man.

I go to Body Dynamics on County Line road. If you go down Davisville road and go left it's about 1/4 mile to your right. $30 a month and it's always empty. Plenty of weights, equipment, etc.

I was using Planet Fitness in Malvern and liked it a lot especially since it was 20 bucks a month and had no contract, so when I cancelled when I moved I didn't owe anything.

SD,

I limit myself to 200g of carbs or less per day. I will eat brown rice, granola, plain oatmeal and wheat bread...that's about it...and occasionally some whole wheat pasta on cheat days

Zan,

I tried the HIIT once and it whupped my ass. I should probably get after it again...

I'm switching it up to that tomorrow morning. I've been hungry and lightheaded all day, and no amount of veggies is going to fill me up. I know with low carb/low glycemic diets there's a transition but if I work out enough I feel it will balance out.

pizza late at night is going to farg up your regimen. unless you don't go to bed until noon.

BTW, has anybody found that it is harder to put on muscle when on a low carb diet? That seemed to be the case for me.

Zanshin

Traditionally, you need some pre and post-workout carbs to get the best muscle-building results. That said, I've found that carbs at night are like death for me. Put on weight instantly. For me, anyway, it's more about the right carbs, and not "low" carbs. It's more about cutting out the crap. I'm probably around 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fats right now. Just got down to 10% body fat, which I'm happy about. No matter what I grade out at, though, I always feel like I need to drop ten pounds...which is a pain in the ass. I'm fairly sure being Irish isn't really helping there ;-). My wife is Italian and she gets absolutely shredded just by looking at weights. Bitch.

You sound like me except you're already in decent shape. Cutting the crap for me is the biggest step. The g/f took notice of my committment level of losing weight and voluntarily offered to stop buying junk food.

I did 40-50 pushups total yesterday in intervals and my entire upper body is sore this morning.

Zanshin

I usually go in cycles. I'm excellent at losing weight and gaining weight, but I need to work on my maintenance skills. I've been working out twice a day for the last couple of months (weights during the day and running at night) and that's made a big difference, because it's been solid fat loss, with muscle gain, which is always the trick. Too many times people lose the weight and get that sort of skinny fat look, because the muscle falls away with the fat. But I need to be really clean about it-- some people can eat some crap and get results...but my body apparently doesn't work that way. Meh. Gotta do what you gotta do.

rjs246

I'm pretty sure that if I stopped drinking alcohol soda and coffee I'd lose 10 pounds in under a month. And I'm already farging skinny. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but I was just thinking about it this morning. I take in so many extra calories from alcohol that if I cut that shtein out I'd look like Christian Bale in The Machinist.
