Flax seed oil. Thoughts?

Good for the joints

This part I somehow didn't catch in my googling. This is probably the best selling point for me. My skinny bony ass wasn't built to take the beating I've laid on it from years of collision sports and high impact running. I can feel my knees starting to crack and my ankles have been shtein for years if this crap can help delay their total collapse I am sold.

can i sue Hydroxycut for my liver damage?

RJS, i would recommend Milk Thistle, with a high silymarin count.  It'll take care of you liquor processor.  I also put my name on the Larry Hagman list for an upgrade

I never had problems with my joints, just muscle soreness. I started taking supplements (Finigenx, Creatine) and eating more,  my strength shot through the roof. My bench was close to 300, my joints started to kill me so one of the guys at my gym recommended flaxseed oil. It'll give you a sort of cushion feeling in your joints.

Regarding my liver: I read a study two years ago showing that one cup of coffee the day after drinking significantly reduces the damage to your liver and that two cups of coffee completely negated the damage. I'll see if I can dig it up but my recent dive back into coffee addiction is all I plan on doing for my liver. Also, now that Obama is making everything better I'm counting on stem cells to grow me a new liver on demand.

Regarding strength: I have basically stopped lifting-to-gain-mass. I did it for about a year, got big (for me), then got lazy and all of that mass turned into flab immediately and it has literally taken me 4 years to get back to my normal weight/shape. It's too much trouble to maintain that level of strength/size so my workout goals now are simpler. Stay thin. Maintain some definition. The stay thin part is what's brutal on my knees. Treadmills and running on asphalt and concrete is taking a toll.

running on treadmills did exactly what you said...crushed my knees over the years

power walk it. put the treadmill on 4.3 to 4.5 (which is very fast walking), maybe with a little incline and you'll see that you can still get about 2.5 miles in about 35-40 min and break a nice sweat...not to mention your knees feel 10,000 x's better. The only downfall is less calories burned

I like the eliptical, it's an odd motion but it doesn't kill my back. The rest of what you said happened to me, I put on a ton of mass then tried to get back down. I dropped around 15 lbs. but I just don't think I care enough to lose the rest. It would probably be easier if I didn't have a g/f and daughter but such is life.

I'd be interested in reading that coffee/alcohol study if you can dig it up. I figured I was farged but if that's the case I might make it to 40.

Seabiscuit36

SD, if you are farged, I'm dead in a week.

Ok, so here it is, i'm a fat muthafarger.  I'm 221lbs on a good day after a large bout of muddbutt, and i'm 5'11.  I'm tired of being a fatass, and dont want to be embarrased with my man boobs.  Whats the best bet for a lazy person like myself to shed some weight in a healthy manner.  I generally avoid Sodas, i can cut out chips and snacks.  I've reduced my sugar intake on coffee to under a teaspoon for a 32oz cup.

Is cardio the best bet to try and burn the fat?  Pushups to get rid of manboobage?  Situps?

Find cardio you like. I prefer the eliptical but switch it up every now and then. Some people walk and that does it for them. I hate to run. If you have to miss a workout take a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood with your dog. Diet is just as important, watch your carbs and most importantly watch what you snack on. I get bored and wind up eating random crap. Like lastnight while watching the Phils I wanted a snack. I had fresh Salsa Fresca so I ate the shtein out of it with a bunch of chips. Bad choice, I feel like shtein this morning and I probably ate 500 calories and crappy carbs late at night.

Phreak can probably help you more with the weight loss stuff but I'll take a stab at it.

Pushups and situps won't do shtein until you lose the weight. They'll do almost nothing to help you lose weight will just build/define muscle under the fat and, if anything, push the fat further from your frame making you look bigger.

Cardio and diet(gay) are the only things you can do to lose weight. It took me a long time to lose the 20 pounds I gained because I refused to reduce my alcohol intake or change my diet. I lost about 10-15 strictly through cardio work. Then over the last year and a half or so I started eating salads 5-6 times a week for lunch or dinner and substituted a lot of the meat I was eating with fish. I also basically eliminated hard liquor from my regular drinking rotation (though it finds its way in from time to time of course). Bacon and beer and burgers still make up a large portion of what I eat, but working some healthier stuff onto the menu has had a definite (if slow) effect. I'm back to my college weight now.

reese: Walking at 4.5 mph on the treadmill is what I do for a cool-down. I don't think there's any way that I could qualify that as a workout no matter how bad my knees feel.

sd: I've thought about using the eliptical but I haven't been able to consciously make the decision to look that gay while working out. Same problem I have with yoga. My back is a disaster and yoga would probably be fantastic for it, but I'll be damned if I can make myself sign up for something so chock full of crunchy hippy iceholes.

I was the same way, but after seeing some of the biggest motherfargers in the gym doing the eliptical it looked less gay so I said farg it.

Gaywad.

Alcohol/coffee/cirrhosis study.

Actually, it looks like there have been a couple such studies. Cha-ching.

Slightly more detail in this article...

Important to note that these studies completely ignore any negative impacts that drinking 1-4 cups of coffee a day will have on you. This is strictly cirrhosis related.

With salads, best bet is oil and vinegar as a dressing right?

I might join the gym at work, but that means i need to go into work now.
