An enormous percentage of such stories are usually linked back to the parents or the kids themselves. There was a guy 15 years ago who did it in Minnesota. That's one of the only instances in history of a sick bastich actually handing out farged up candy to kids. Mostly it's an urban legend.

They are saying it's different households. I wonder if the kids are a single group of friends or not.

Also it's actually pretty difficult to do much harm with sharp stuff in candy. Low odds of the sharp object making it all the way back into someone's throat before being noticed. That's why generally this is something done to scare people or for attention.
