if by chance forsberg does sign with nashville....

The third-round pick would change to a much higher pick - probably a first-round pick -if Forsberg were to re-sign this summer with Nashville instead of the Flyers. Forsberg can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Philly Nashville will make it seem like they're waiting until he's a free agent just to not have to give up as much of a pick, but then some other team will pony up more dough, and Stallworth Forsberg will be gone.

Why does Nashville have a hockey team?
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Like SD i would have rather gotten Radulov or Weber instead of the injured Parent.  But the flyers still ended up with Parent a early 1st rounder, Upshall who was also a top10 pick, then add in a first and a third.  For the Flyers its a great trade, values go down getting closer to the deadline and they do have a very good chance of re signing him after the season if he wants.

its an amazing trade considering forsbergs footsie problems and the fact he admitted he would love to resign with the flyers in the summer...no way could they have expected to get radulov...they got more than i ever thought they would

I would be surprised... perhaps even a bit shocked... to see Forsberg actually re-sign with the Flyers.

Agreed.   Nashville gave up a shteinload considering this trade might end up being a three month rental.

Nashville is 1 point behind Buffalo for the best record in the NHL and the rednecks don't care, so they needed another superstar besides Kariya.  It still won't matter, but...

If Nashville wins the Stanley Cup, have we hit a new low as a sports town?

Wingspan

If Nashville wins the Stanley Cup, you can expect the NHL to be long forgotten in 5 years.

seriously, tampa bay, carolina, nashville.

those cities just scream ice hockey.

The rule changes (aside from the shootout) were a great idea, but if they want the sport to survive they need to get rid of all the fighting rules. Bring back bench clearing brawls and let fights go. No one wants to see Disney on Ice, fighting is what made the sport so popular. The 'finesse' NHL is crap. Expanding to warm weather cities and cities whose fans were fairweather was equally stupid.

MDS

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Less teams, less money, smaller markets, only northern cities = the only way to go. Yes, some Euro's might decide its not worth it to come over. But whatever. They're all Hoydas anyway.
