That was great.  Well worth the four minutes.  Of course, Lila should have had two for his actions as well.

PPS: Not true, rjs.  The first half of the second period the Flyers played exceptional hockey.  Then the penalties started coming... naturally.

Host pathetic is it that we're discussing whether one well-played half of one period helps push this game to 'best of season' status?

Ugh.

I hear ya, but this game would have been one of the best games all year no matter if the team was in the top 5 in points as usual, or as sucky as they have been this year.

Detroit had over twice as many points as the Flyers coming into the game....and they still do...

Because of Bettman's stupid scheduling, there won't be any Red Wings/Flyers games next year....

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i'm actually looking forward to going to the game Thursday and Monday...and every game in March/April.

...unless they start sucking again.

Ugh.

The Flyers team that played last night bears no resemblance to the bumbling, inept, and passionless group of flags that spent most of this season getting buried and humiliated by other teams.

The team last night looked like a legitimate playoff team, epsecially since their goalie didn't look like one of Jerry's kids in net.

they've actually been playing well since the all-star break, they haven't gotten a ton of wins, but they have at least been competent and playing hard.

QuoteMajor Forsberg News could be Coming
Today @ 3:29 PM ET |
According to two sources, the Peter Forsberg saga is coming to a head and the prospect of Peter leaving Philadelphia is looking greater at this hour.

One source, a member of the Leafs television crew who is setting up in Philadelphia now for tonight's game, informed me that Peter Forsberg was at the Wachovia Center around noon today. For those of you not aware, the Flyers morning skate takes place in South Jersey, not at the Wachovia Center, so it is somewhat surprising for Peter to be at Wachovia Center so early on the day of the game.

Three separate sources in Nashville report that they heard that a deadline of this coming weekend has been given by the Flyers to resolve the situation. A dependable league source emailed me saying that it's heating up again... "lots of phone calls now".

At this point I would not be surprised to see this go down at any moment and I would bet that Predators are the most likely destination for Forsberg. I have even heard the name of 2005 1st round pick Ryan Parent (not a bad Philly surname) mentioned as possibly key to the deal. That comes from a good source, however, the names being thrown around are changing every minute.

I'm about to make some phone calls to key people involved and I'll report back with anything I can based on the information that I receive.
