They might win a home game this month.  The Blues are coming to town...

igy, there's no Crosby or Ovechkin in this draft, but one kid that's starting to emerge as the top pick is Alexei Cherepanov.  17-yr old Russian winger, plays for Russia's top league and has more points this season (first year) than Ovechkin or Malkin did.  They also will have about $22M to spend for free agency (although a quarter of that could go back to Forsberg if he re-signs), so they'll be able to steal someone from Buffalo (Drury or Briere) and get two defensemen....

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have agreed to a two-year contract extension with 5'10", 185-pound forward Sami Kapanen, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. Kapanen is now signed through the 2008-09 season. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"We are excited about having Sami around for a few more years," said Holmgren in making the announcement. "We feel that he brings a lot of qualities to our hockey team in terms of what he does both on and off the ice. He is a quality person and he's a good utility player who can play anywhere in our lineup."
"I am very happy to stay here," said Kapanen. "It's something that we were able to get done in a short period of time. I believe that this team is rebuilding in the right direction and we will be back contending next year. My family loves it here, so it was an easy decision to stay here."
Kapanen, 33, has recorded seven goals and seven assists for 14 points and 14 penalty minutes in 51 games for the Flyers this season.

personally, my favorite Flyer.   I just wish he would shoot more at all.
