All that is fine and dandy Sassy, but the man cannot manage a game.  Period.  He has maybe a high school level proficiency regarding clock managment and time outs, and he's positively addicted to calling pass plays.  I'm tired of it.  He's gotten all kinds of slack from me for years, but my good will is running dry. 

How many more times do I have to watch a timeout on second down following an incomplete pass, in the 1st or 3rd quarter?  How many more times do I have to watch pass, pass, pass, punt?

It's infuriating.

Bill Cowher was Marty Schottenheimer before he won a SB.  Reid pisses me off but he does not deserve to go just yet.

You must not know too many Steelers fans.  Until their 15-1 season there was plenty of criticism of his ability and many of their fans thought he was the reason why they lost to the Patriots in the AFCCG two years ago.

you couldnt not be more wrong there.

i lived in pittsburgh during the kordell stewart years...and fans and local media did exactly what you just said never happened...for the better part of 5 years. 1997 through 2001

I'm not saying the guy is above criticsm.  He's far from it.  But at the same time, there's a bunch of "great" coaches in the league who have their own faults as well.  Shanahan hadn't won a playoff game without Elway until last year.  Dick Vermeil didn't win a single playoff game in KC despite having one of the top offenses in the league.  Tony Dungy hasn't gotten Indy to the SB either.  It took Cowher like 13 or 14 years to win one with Pitt. 

Every coach on that list has faults.  They've all made poor decisions/adjustments during games.  They've all done something at some point in time to cost their team a shot at a title.  I'm not a Reid "apologist" but at the same time, I don't think there is anyone out there I would rather have coaching this team other than maybe Billicheck. 

Bringing in a new coach will almost guarantee a new philiosophy.  New offense, new defense or whatever.  Randall Cunningham was benched in favor of Rodney Peete when Ray Rhodes brought in the WCO.  In what universe should Cunningham be benched in favor of Peete?  But that's what happens sometimes when you change coaches.  I like most of the players we have here and would like to see them stick around for a while.

i will never argue against poor time management esp in 2 min drills but the timeout issue....ive seen and see many games where teams have to burn timesouts in the 1st and 3rd qrt cause of the play clock, what the defense is showing, or whatever...thats not limited to reid.

The Eagles waste timeouts and it's mostly because of coaching blunders.....not getting the play in in time.  And when the Eagles take a time out because of the opposing defense, it's because the play came to the huddle so slowly that McNabb does not have time to audible out of it. 

And the execution of the 2 min drill has nothing to do with timeouts.  Teams practice running the 2 min drill with no timeouts and the Eagles are about the worst in the league at it.  Slow getting to the line, slow getting the play in.  I've seen them waste 20 seconds just so they could spike the ball.  Against the Giants the punt team burned a time out.  The friggin PUNT TEAM!  That's inexcusable.  They are slow when there should be a sense of urgency.  Just flat out slow.  And that primarily starts with the coaching.

im sure white trash kissin cousin steel worker pittsburgh fans wanted cowher gone and claimed he was a horrid coach...but that doesnt make it so...people in the know always knew that the cat was a great football coach despite not winning the supertbowl

this is clearly not the case with reid who has had numerous coaching implosions and debacles thruout his career and everyone from joey in fishtown to igy knows it

This is why I love the late starts. So I can watch the other games early and then settle in and watch the Birds.
