the giants were a better team before the game sunday and i still believe the giants are a better team even if i believe the eagles played better on sunday

but what about the Giants makes you believe they are better?

QB = Eagles
RB = Giants
WR/TE = slight edge to Giants
OL = Eagles
DE = Giants
DT = Eagles
LB = Giants
DB = Eagles
ST = Eagles

i don't understand why the Giants outplaying the Eagles counts so much more than when the Eagles dominated the Giants for three full quarters.  Sure, they let up, let the Giants come back, but for 3 farging quarters, the Giants were getting destroyed.  I know the collapse is the last thing in your mind, thus what you remember.  But think about quarters 1-3.

people know i'm not a homer, and im not being one here.

Apparently, the disconnect here is that SunMo believes the team with more talent is the "better team".

That couldn't be a bigger pile of wrongness.

McNabb - 27/45 350 yds 2TD, 0 INT
Westbrook - 125 total yds, 1TD
Stallworth/Brown - 1 TD Each
LJ - 7 catches 111 yds
Eagles defense - 8 sacks, INT to the Giants 1 sack, 0 INT
Tiki - 51 yds on 21 carries
Shockey - 2 catches 17 yds

I can't believe the levels of homerism being displayed here.  Way to leave out the Giants' good stats (like Toomer and Manning).  Also, if stats were everything, Peyton Manning would have won no less than 4-5 Super Bowls by now.

I'm not leaving out their stats.  I pointed out the things that the Eagles did that people all would consider important to win the game.  McNabb good game, Shutting down Tiki and Shockey all that stuff which we did.

I never said stats are everything so don't put words in my mouth.  I said that they all would seem to indicate that the Eagles would have won the game.  Later on in the same post... I pointed out the things other than stats that contributed to the loss.  You didn't quote that though.

What happend in the 4th quater and OT was The Perfect Storm that went the Giants way. As PG said , the chances of the Penalty by Cole/Dropped passes/fumbles for TD with 2 eagles missing the recovery/Westbrook fumble/not getting 1 yard on 4th and one/Eli Farveing a pass blindly in OT are a million to one again.  Just take the loss as a learning experience.

not really, i just used a poor choice of words.

the Eagles are better than the Giants, it's kind of amazing that you aren't able to see that.

I saw the Giants as a team capable of making key pass-protection adjustments to take advantage of the Eagles' depleted secondary and get back in the game, and I saw the Eagles' coaches & players completely powerless to do anything whatsoever to slow them down when it counted.

"Better" teams are able to hold big 4th quarter leads and can respond to adjustments made by the team attempting to come back.  The Eagles allowed everything they had accomplished earlier in the game to be undone on the field and, more importantly, on the scoreboard.  Hence, they cannot claim the title of "better team"... not even close.

i don't know any better way to explain my point of view than this:

for three quarters, the Eagles took what they wanted from the Giants, no flukey Giant plays or stupid penalties gave the Eagles what they got through 3 quarters, the Eagles physcially dominated them in every aspect of the game.

in the 4th quarter, the Eagles got stupid, and the Giants got lucky.  that in combination with the fact that the Giants are close to as good as the Eagles, allowed them to come back and win.  it's an awful loss.  but i'm convinced from what i saw on the field on Sunday, that the Eagles are the best team in the NFC east.

i'm not being a homer.  i was telling people before the game that i was worried, i thought the Giants were better, but they aren't.  their secondary is garbage, their dline depth is not very good, their oline is not very good.

so what, it doesn't take away from the fact that they did it.

I know you like being stupid, Iggypants, so this is amusing. If the Giants were the better team they would have been taking advantage of the DBs the entire game, not just the first drive and picking up again after the 3rd quarter. They were shut down, confused, and starting to implode on the sidelines, and then the Eagles let them right back in.

ice grillin you

and if the eagles were the better team they would have thrown for more than 94 yards in the second half and not got steamrolled for an entire 4th quarter and OT

in fact you could say the giants were more impressive as they did in one quarter plus OT what the eagles needed a full three quarters to do

To a team down two corners. Well done Giants! The fact is, the Giants took nearly the entire game to do what they should have been doing all along.
