still think the Eagles would be more interested in Duckett, as long as he knows hes a #2 back.

of course they would, but duckett is on a team right now, whereas davis is not.

Exactly. I also think that the Eagles are looking ahead to the draft a little and realizing that for the first time in years they probably aren't going to have any supplemental picks and are loathe to trade away picks for role-players like Lelie and Duckett. There might be something smart about that plan in the long run, but RIGHT NOW those two players can help this team (certainly more than Stephen Davis) and their lack of effort in acquiring either is frustrating.

Aren't you the same guy who has said repeatedly that Ashley Lelie sucks?

Which is it?  Does he suck or can he help the Eagles?  I don't see how he's going to help them one bit because he doesn't know the offense, he plays like a bitch, and he's had zero time with Donovan.  Add to the fact that he has an attitude problem and he's about as far from being a solution for the Eagles as it gets.

As for Duckett, I'd tend to agree with you there.  He's better than Stephen Davis even though he's been a pretty big disappointment in Atlanta.  His reputation exceeds his production but that might just be a case of a talking scrotum like Jim Mora misusing him in the offense.

He does suck. I don't like him one bit. And yet I still consider him to be better (at opening up the passing game) than the options that the Eagles currently have on their roster. He's a one-trick pony, but this team needs someone who can perform that trick.

If he could catch 35-45 passes for 16-18 yards per, he would stretch the field in ways that no one on the current roster can.

Duckett didn't have a single rush for negative yards his rookie season. He has consistently put up good numbers in terms of TDs and yards on relatively few touches. I don't know if he's an every down back or a short yardage specialist, but either way he is EXACTLY what I wish the Eagles had on their roster. Especially if they're going to do any sort of runningback by committee.

First Google hit for "Talking Scrotum"

It's not a talking scrotum during the video, but my bet is it'll be talking to the dude the next morning.

Lelie has no interest in being a situational receiver.  He'll accept being a starter and nothing less.  Why would he accept being a backup in Philly if he's not willing to be a backup in Denver?

He has no experience in the Eagles offense; he has no rapport with Donovan; he'd have to crash-learn the terminology used on offense; he plays like a bitch; and he's unwilling to fight for a job in training camp to PROVE his worth to his current team.

After all the bullshtein they had to tolerate with Owens (whose phenomenal talent almost makes his prima donna bullcrap tolerable) why would they ever get a guy with considerably less talent and an equal amount of zesty attitude?

It just doesn't add up.

rjs246

No one's arguing with you, Rome. I'm saying that if all they did was line Lelie up and have him run a fly pattern every play it would help open up the offense. I don't think it will happen, and I don't think he's worth whatever money he will inevitably ask for, but Lelie doing that one thing would help the offense a lot.

baskett has no experience in this offense either...he has no experience with any nfl offense.

lelie would start on this team once he learned the offense...but andy won't trade for him.
lemonade was a popular drink and it still is

Feva

One-trick doesn't = situational/backup

Ashley Lelie comes nowhere close to the zesty attitude TO brings.

Bottom line.  The Eagles NEED a deep threat.  Lelie does that and does it well.  Is he a great option?  Not really.  But he's pretty much the best option left at this point... including the option of letting someone currently on the roster trying to fill that role.

Baskett has an entire training camp worth of experience with the offense.  He knows the terminology and he has a rapport with Donovan since he worked out with him in Arizona prior to the start of camp.

As for Lelie, there's no guarantee that he would start here and the only evidence we have of the kind of player he is and the kind of character he has is from what he's done in Denver.  To use an IGYism, he's bitchmade, dook.

Feva

Lelie wouldn't start?  Come on.

The Brown/Baskett starting lineup is juuuuuust a little easier to crack than the Smith/Walker lineup.

If Lelie would start on the Eagles and he's available for a reasonable price, then why isn't he on the team right now?

Andy's never been hesitant about making deals for players especially those who come cheap and Lelie would come relatively cheap.

So I'll ask it again: Why haven't the Eagles traded for him yet?  I think the answer is they're happy with what they have at the position.  I'm not saying I am.  I'm saying THEY are.

I see you're new to the whole 'being an Eagles fan' thing.  Welcome.
